생태문학을 통한 융복합 교양교과목 개발 연구

국문 초록

생태문학은 ‘생태’와 ‘문학’이 합쳐진다는 점에서 근본적으로 융복합적 성격을 가지고 있으며 최근 코로나19와 같은 팬데믹의 상황에서 그 의미가 새롭게 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 그동안 개설된 생태교육 관련 교양교과목을 분석하여 그 안에 나타난 성과와 한계점을 통해 새로운 융복합 교양교육 교과목을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 S대학교의 <환경과 인문학>과 D대학교의 <미래환경과 위험사회>를 분석하였다. 두 교과 목 모두 다양한 학문 분과 영역을 통합하여 학습할 수 있도록 한다는 점에서 의미가 크다. 다만 <환경과 인문학>의 경우 학습자 스스로 각각의 내용을 충분히 유기적으로 통합하지 못할 수 있다는 점에서 아쉬움이 있다. <미래환경과 위험사회>는 교과목 개발자의 능력과 수준에 따라 강의의 성패가 좌우될 수 있다는 우려가 있다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해 가칭 <생태문학 속의 생태위기>를 제안한다. 전반부에는 생태위기 와 관련된 수질, 대기, 토양, 핵, 문명 비판, 묵시록적 미래, 생명 등 7개의 주제를 순차적으로 다룬다. 후반부에는 팀별로 7개의 주제 중 하나와 관련 작품을 선정하고, 그 내용을 분석한 후, 그 속에 나타난 생태위기를 극복할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. O주차 강의를 예로 들면, 이형기의 <비오디 피피엠>을 통해 자연과학적 지식을 함양하고, 수질오염과 관련된 현실의 모습을 다양한 매체를 통해 인지한 후, 최성각의 <약사 여래는 오지 않는다>를 통해 작품을 분석하고 근본적인 대안을 찾는 토의·토론 활동을 한다. 이와 같은 활동을 통해 생태적 감수성을 기르고 생태윤리를 체화할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Ecological literature fundamentally has a convergence nature in that it combines “ecology” and “literature.” Its significance has been highlighted anew in the recent COVID-19 pandemic situation. This study aims to analyze liberal arts subjects related to ecological education and examine their achievements and limitations, thus proposing a new convergence liberal arts subject. For these purposes, the investigator analyzed “The Environment and Humanities” at S University and “A Future Environment and Risk Society” at D University. Both the subjects have huge significance in that they are designed to be integrated with various academic areas for study. “The Environment and Humanities” leaves room for improvement as it may not help students themselves integrate each content piece fully organically. “A Future Environment and Risk Society” has concerns with the possibility that the success and failure of its lecture can be determined by the abilities and levels of subject developers. The study proposed a tentative subject “Ecological Crises in Ecological Literature” to solve these problems. In the former part, it covers sequentially seven topics related to an ecological crisis including water quality, atmosphere, soil, nuclear weapons, criticism of civilization, apocalyptic future, and life. In the latter part, it selects a work related to one of the seven topics for each team, analyzes its content, and proposes ways to overcome an ecological crisis in it. The lectures in Week O, for instance, will help students cultivate their natural science knowledge and recognize the reality of water contamination via various media based on Lee Hyeong-gi's BOD PPM and then provide discussion and debate activities to analyze Bhêchadjaguru Shall Not Come by Choi Seong-gak and find fundamental alternatives. Such activities are expected to help students develop their ecological sensibility and embody ecological ethics.
