국문 초록

본 논문은 통일교육에 있어서 가장 중요한 용어인 자유와 평화 간의함수관계를 다룬 것이다. 통일교육은 민족통일의 도상에서 국가 구성원에게 통일의 당위성 목표 및 방향을 정확히 숙지하게 하고 통일역량을구축할 수 있다는 점에서 매우 중요한 통일전략의 일환이다. 통일교육에 있어서 가장 중요한 점은 무엇보다도 이념문제이다. 우리의 통일은자유민주주의에 의한 통일국가를 지향하고 있다. 이러한 목표의 지향에있어서 명심해야 할 점은 자유와 평화의 상관성이다. 자유와 평화의 상관성에 대한 정확한 이해가 없이 행해지는 통일교육은 사상누각의 교육에 불과할 것이 분명하다. 자유는 인간의 본질적 가치이고 모든 가치와제도의 근원이 되는 전제적 절대적 가치이다. 자유를 도외시한 그 어떤가치와 제도는 정당성을 상실하게 된다. 반면 평화는 스스로 독립하여설 수 없는 결과적 가치이다. 즉 평화는 그 어떤 절대적 가치에 의해규정되고 전제될 때 본래의 목적을 이룰 수 있다. 이런 점에서 평화는보편적 가치인 자유와 보편적 제도인 민주주의에 의해 뒷받침될 때만이그 참된 뜻과 의미를 발휘할 수 있다. 이러한 자유와 평화의 상관성에대한 확고부동한 입장을 터득한 후 통일교육에 임한다면 통일교육의 목표를 성취하는데 중요한 동력이 될 것으로 확신한다.

영문 초록

This paper deals with the functional relationship between freedom and peace, the most important term in unification education. Unification education is part of a very important unification strategy in that it is possible to accurately familiarize national members with the justification goals and directions of unification and build unification capabilities. The most important point in unification education is the ideological issue above all else. Our unification aims to become a unified nation through liberal democracy. One thing to keep in mind in the direction of these goals is the correlation between freedom and peace. It is clear that unification education, which is conducted without an accurate understanding of the correlation between freedom and peace, will be nothing more than a pavilion of thought. Freedom is an intrinsic value of human beings, and it is a prerequisite and absolute value that is the source of all values and institutions. Any value and system that ignores freedom loses its legitimacy. On the other hand, peace is a consequent value that cannot stand on its own. In other words, peace can achieve its original purpose when it is defined and presupposed by some absolute value. In this respect, peace can only exert its true meaning and meaning when supported by the universal values of freedom and universal institutions of democracy. If you start unification education after acquiring a firm stance on the relationship between freedom and peace, I am sure that it will be an important driving force in achieving the goal of unification education.
