국문 초록

우리나라 청소년의 심리적 문제는 부모세대의 심리와 한국 경제, 사회, 문화, 역사적 배경과 연결되어 있어서, 심리문제를 해결하기 위해서는 인문학적 이해가 필요하다. 서구화 되었다고 하나 한국인의 심리 속에는 이미 유불도교와 같은 동양 철학사상이 스며들어 있기 때문에 동양철학 사상에서 심리치료에 유용한 가치들을 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 양명학에서 이러한 가치들을 찾아 실제 청소년 심리치료의 원리와 비교해 분석해보았다. 양명학은 중국명대의 왕수인이 주창한 학문으로 한국에서는 조선시대에 하곡 정제두를 필두로 하여 강화학파를 통해 한국양명학의 독자적인 특성을 띠며 발전하였다. 사물의 이치를 마음에서 파악한다는 ‘심즉리’ 사상은 현대의 심리학과 유사하며, 마음의 양심을 밝히는 ‘치양지’, 그리고 앎과 행동이 일치하는 ‘지행합일’ 사상 또한 현대정신의학과 심리치료에서 의미있게 재해석 할 수 있다. 청소년들이 자신의 마음 속에 있는 원래의 선한 마음인 ‘양지’를 발견하고 건강한 자아 정체감과 자부심을 갖고, 삶에서 균형을 잡는 ‘치양지’를 행동으로 옮길 수 있도록 돕고, 병리적인 이기주의가 아닌 보다 넓은 공동체 의식을 깨닫게 한다면 신경증상을 줄이고 정신건강을 증진시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한 죽은 지식이 아닌, 자신과 다른 사람을 살리는 지식을 생활 속에 실천할 수 있도록, 양명학의 원리를 심리치료 안에서 적용시켜볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

Psychological problems of Korean adolescents are associated with the psychology of the parental generation and the economic, cultural and historical background of Korea. Accordingly, to solve psychological symptoms effectively, a comprehensive understanding of the Korean philosophy and history is needed. Even though Korean society has been westernized, the ideas of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism are deeply rooted in and have influenced the minds of Korean adolescents, since their childhood through traditional narratives and customs of daily life. Therefore, we can discover useful ideas in traditional oriental philosophy and utilize them in psychotherapy for Korean adolescent. In this study, I have analyzed the main ideas of Yangmingism, in comparison to the therapeutic mechanism of psychotherapy. Yangmingism is a philosophical school of Neo-Confucianism, based on the ideas of the Wang Yangming, a Chinese philosopher during the Ming dynasty. In Korea, Yangmingism was developed by the Gang-hwa school led by (Hagok) Jeong, Je-du during the Joseon dynasty, to feature its own special characteristics. The idea of 'Mind is principle' resembles that of modern psychology. The ideas of 'awakening conscience' and 'consistency of knowledge and action' can also be interpreted in the realms of modern psychotherapy and psychiatry. The psychological and neurotic symptoms of adolescents can be reduced by helping them to develop a 'good heart' intrinsic to their nature, to live a balanced life by awakening their conscience and to build strong sense of community, escaping from pathological egoism. The ideas of Yangmingism can also be applied in psychotherapy, to practice a live knowledge vitalizing myself and others.
