국문 초록

제20대 대통령선거는 더불어민주당의 이재명 후보와 국민의힘의 윤석열 후보가 후보자의 자질 논란 등으로 역대급 비호감 선거로 인식되었고, 정권재창출과 정권교체의 충돌, MZ세대에서 비롯된 세대와 성별을 둘러싼 대립양상 등으로 초박빙의 선거였다. 제20대 대통령선거에서 국민의힘의 윤석열 후보가 48.56%를, 더불어민주당의 이재명 후보가 47.83%를 얻어 0.73% 차이로 윤석열 후보가 대통령에 당선되었다. 이에 제20대 대통령선거에서 더불어민주당의 이재명 후보가 실패한 원인을 검토하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대장동개발비리의혹에 대한 거듭된 말바꾸기와 책임전가식의 방어적 변명이 후보자에 대한 신뢰성을 약화시켰다. 둘째, 코로나19로 국가재정이 악화되는 상황에서 기본소득제에 대한 논란은 국민정서와의 부합성에서 한계를 보였다. 셋째, 정권교체에 대한 국민적 관심사를 정치교체와 국민통합정부로 희석시키려는 수사적 표현은 국민을 설득하지 못하였다. 결국 제20대 대통령선거에서 더불어민주당의 이재명 후보는 후보자의 자질논란, 국민정서와 부합되지 않는 기본소득제, 정권재창출에 대한 부정적 인식을 극복하지 못해 낙선한 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The 20th presidential election was recognized as an unfavorable election due to controversy over the candidate qualifications. In addition, the 20th presidential election was difficult to predict due to clashes between regime re-creation and regime change, as well as confrontations over the generation and gender that started with the MZ generation. In the 20th presidential election, Yoon Suk-yeol of the People Power Party received 48.56% and Lee Jae-myeong of the Minjoo Party received 47.83%. The reasons for the failure of candidate Lee Jae-myeong of the Minjoo Party in the 20th presidential election are as follows. First, repeated change of words and defensive excuses of responsibility transfer over suspicions of corruption in the development of Daejang-dong weakened the credibility of the candidate. Second, in a situation where the national finances are deteriorating due to COVID-19, the controversy over the basic income system showed limitations in its compatibility with the national sentiment. Third, the rhetorical expression to dilute the national interest in regime change with political change and a unified national government did not persuade the people.
