국문 초록

‘조씨고아’ 이야기의 중심인물 조씨고아는 전통적 서사와 캐릭터로 고정적인 데 비해, 주변 인물들은 매번 시대 정신과 지역 정신이 반영되어 ‘타자의 주체화’를 이루며 이야기 흐름을 적극적으로 주도해 왔다. 그중 가장 대표적인 인물은 바로 이야기 속에서 조씨고아와 갈등구조를 일으키는 대척점의 정점에 서 있는 인물인 도안고이다. 도안고는 ‘조씨고아’ 이야기에서 서사 진행과 긴장의 정도 및 완급을 주인공 조씨고아보다 더 영향력 있게 주도하는 가장 존재감 있는 중심인물 같은 주변 인물이라고 할 수 있다. 필자는 이 점에 천착해 ‘조씨고아’를 ‘조씨고아’답게 만들며 이야기의 구조와 사용한 서사 기법을 생동감 있게 만들어 독자 또는 관객의 공감을 끌어내 이야기에 몰입시키는 결정적인 역할을 하는 핵심인물을 도안고라고 판단했다. 본고는 기존의 답습되어 오던 조씨 집안과 조씨고아 중심의 전통적인 시각에서 벗어나 연구의 초점을 ‘도안고’에 맞춰 타자의 주체화가 되어 가는 과정과 양상을 고찰했다. 이에 전통 시기 동서양의 다양한 장르와 작가들에게서 재해석되어 왔던 ‘조씨고아’ 이야기 속의 도안고라는 등장인물 형상의 탄생 배경과 과정 그리고 역할에 대해 다각적이고 종합적인 고찰을 진행했다.

영문 초록

While the main character, Cho’s orphan(趙氏孤兒), is fixed with traditional narratives and characters, the surrounding characters have actively led the story flow by reflecting the spirit of the times and local spirit every time. Among them, the most representative person is Tu’an Gu(屠岸賈), a person who stands at the peak of the counterpoint that creates a conflict structure with Cho’s orphan in the story. In the story of Cho’s orphan, Tu’an Gu can be said to be the most presentable central figure who leads the narrative progression, tension, and tempo more influential than the main character Cho’s orphan. Based on this, I judged that it was designed to play a decisive role in immersing readers or audiences by making “Cho’s orphan” like “Cho’s orphan” and making the narrative structure and lively used. The purpose of this paper is to consider the process and pattern of becoming the subject of the other person by focusing on the “Tu’an Gu” and the focus of research, away from the traditional perspective of Cho’s family and Cho’s orphan. Accordingly, various and comprehensive considerations were conducted on the background, process, and role of the character Tu’an Gu in the story of “Cho’s orphan” which has been reinterpreted by various genres and writers in the East and West during the traditional period.
