자살시도자를 대면하는 사회복지사의 경험에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 ‘응급실 기반 자살시도자 사후관리 사업’에 종사하는 사회복지사의 자살노출 경험을통해 응급실 자살예방사업을 담당하는 사회복지사에 대한 정책 지원 방향성을 제시하는 것을목적으로 한다. 눈덩이표집을 통해 소개받은 연구참여자는 총 8명이며, 심층면접을 통해 Giorgi 의 현상학적 연구방법을 활용하여 자살시도자를 대면하는 사회복지사의 경험에 대한 본질적 의미를 확인하고자 하였다. 연구참여자들의 동의를 받아 심층면접 전 과정을 녹취하였고, 녹취록을 연구자료로 활용하여 ATLAS TI 9.0을 통해 분석한 결과 ‘자살에 대한 심리적 어려움’, ‘업무환경의 한계’, ‘자살노출에 대한 적응’, ‘더 나아갈 수 있는 힘’ 4개의 주제와 12개의 중심의미, 34 개의 하위구성요소가 도출되었다. 응급실 자살예방사업에 종사하는 사회복지사는 공통적으로자살노출과 2차 사회복지 실천현장에 대한 어려움을 경험하면서도 본연의 직무를 다하기 위하여 최선의 노력을 다하고 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 사업에 종사하는 사회복지사의 업무적환경과 삶의 질 제고를 위하여 ‘전문성 향상을 위한 교육 제공’, ‘동료지지체계 구축’, ‘사업 관련정책 참여 기회 증대’를 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to present the policy direction for social workers in charge of suicide prevention projects based on exposure to suicide attempts of social workers, participating in the Emergency Room Suicide Treatment Program. We performed a qualitative analysis and Giorgi’s phenomenological research method with snowball sampling was used to conduct in-depth interviews with eight social workers participating in the Program. With the consent of the participants, whole process of the interview was recorded, and the corresponding transcript was analyzed using ATLAS TI 9.0. As a results, four topics were derived including 1) Psychological difficulties in dealing with suicide 2) limitations of the working environment. 3) adaptation to suicide exposure 4) power to move forward. Social workers engaged in emergency room suicide prevention projects were doing their best to fulfill their original duties while experiencing difficulties with suicide exposure and the secondary social welfare practice site. Based on the research results, suggestions were made to ‘provide education to improve professional competence’, ‘establish a peer support system’, and ‘increase opportunities to participate in project-related policies’ to improve the work environment and quality of life of social workers engaged in the project.
