국문 초록

국내 기업들의 이익잉여금은 총자산 대비 2000년 10.4%에서 2020년 25.7%로 증가하였다. 이는 자산규모 상위 10% 기업에서 주로 나타났다. 총 수요의 유출을 의미하는 기업저축이 고정자본형성에 의해 상쇄되지 않다면 단기적으로는 경기후퇴, 장기적으로는 저성장의 문제를 야기할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 기업 패널자료를 활용한 실증분석을 통해, 상위 10% 기업의 총자 산 대비 기업저축이 10%p 늘어날 경우 그 다음 해 총자산 대비 관계기업투 자자산이 약 0.6~0.7%p 증가하는 반면 유형자산 및 개발비로 이루어진 고정 자산은 총자산 대비 -0.4%p 감소하는 것으로 분석하였다. 또한 기업저축은 현금성자산을 일정기간 동안 증가시키는 경향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 종합 적으로 판단할 때 상위 10% 기업의 저축과 자산구성의 변화는 총수요상의 유출을 야기하고 장기적인 저성장의 원인이 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Retained earnings in the business sector, which could have been regarded as a domestic corporate savings, more than doubled from 10.4% of total assets in 2000 to 25.5% in 2020. This increase is primarily concentrated in companies with the top 10% of assets. If corporate savings, which means the outflow of aggregate demand from the perspective of macroeconomics, are not offset by the formation of fixed capital, it may cause economic recession in the short term and, in the other hand, weaken an economic growth in the long term. In this paper, using the panel data of corporate financial statements, we document that the top 10% of companies had about 0.6~7.7%p increase in the investment on related companies’ equity and -0.4%p decrease in capital formation when their corporate savings increased by 10%. Comprehensively, this suggests that an increase in the outflow of aggregate demand for corporate savings and simultaneous decrease in the formation of fixed capital in the top 10% of companies may occur at the same time, which may cause long-term low growth.
