국문 초록

연구목적: 이 연구의 목적은 사회성기술 훈련 프로그램인 PEERS(Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills)가 발달장애 청소년의 사회성기술과 부모의 양육효능감에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아보는 것이다. 연구방법: 발달장애 청소년 6명과 청소년의 부모 6명을 대상으로 단일집단 사전 사후 연구방법을 적용하여 총 14회기 동안 연구 환경에 맞게 수정한 PEERS를 진행하였다. 연구결과: PEERS는 청소년의 사회성기술과 부모의 양육효능감에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 첫째, PEERS는 연구자가 평가한 청소년의 사회성기술 모든 하위요인, 즉 자기주장, 협력, 자아통제에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, PEERS는 부모가 평가한 청소년의 사회성기술에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, PEERS는 부모의 양육효능감 하위요인 중 전반적인 양육능력에는 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 나머지 하위 요인에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 결론: 발달장애 청소년의 사회성기술을 향상시키기 위하여 국내에서도 PEERS를 적용한 연구가 더 활발히 시행되어야 하며, 자녀의 사회성기술을 지원할 수 있도록 부모참여가 함께 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of PEERS (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) on social skills of adolescents with developmental disabilities and parenting efficacy of their parents. Method: The subjects were 6 adolescents with developmental disabilities and 6 their parents. A single group pre-post test design was used to see differences of the social skills and the parenting efficacy. The program was modified in accordance with the research circumstances, and a total of 14 sessions were conducted. Result: PEERS showed significant effects on the social skills and the parenting efficacy. First, PEERS affected all sub-factors (self-assertion, cooperation, self-control) of adolescents’ social skills evaluated by a researcher. Second, PEERS had the significant effects on the social skills evaluated by the parents. Third, there was a significant effect on the overall parenting ability which was one of the sub-factors of parenting efficacy. But the other sub-factors did not show any differences. Conclusion: This study shows that the PEERS program can be applied in Korea, in order to improve social skills of adolescents with developmental disabilities, which the effectiveness has been proved through various overseas studies. It emphasizes the importance of parental participation in their children’s social skills training.
