남북한 동질화(同質化) 지표개발을 위한 예비적 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 지금까지 남북한의 차이에 집중하고 분단 이후 남북한의 상이한 체제에서 비롯되는 이질성 중심의 고정관념에서 벗어나, 남한의 세계화 및 북한의 시장화와 같은 현재적 변화를 반영하여 생활 문화적 차원에서 동질화에 대한 관점을 새롭게 제시하고자 하였다. 선행연구에서는 ‘체제‧이념적 차원’, ‘민족･역사적 차원’, ‘심리･의식적 차원’을 중심으로 이질성이 강화되고 있음을 밝혔다면 본 연구는 남북한 동질화가 일반 주민의 ‘생활･문화적 차원’에 주목할 필요가 있다고 보았다. 특히 문화적 세계화의 관점에서 남한 대중문화가 북한의 시장화 현상과 더불어 한류로 확산하고 이것이 현재의 북한 주민들의 생활문화에서 ‘북한의 남한화’로 나타나는 현상은 현재의 남북한 동질화를 시사하며 남북한 동질화의 가능성을 보여주는 것이다. 따라서 앞으로 남북한 이질성보다는 남북한 동질화를 중심으로 남북의 변화를 파악할 수 있는 새로운 지표가 필요하며 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 이전의 이질성 중심의 지표가 아닌 생활 문화적 동질화를 바탕으로 한 지표를 제안한다. 이는 제한적이나마 동질화의 중요성을 시사하고 동질화 중심의 연구 방향을 제시하는 예비적 연구로서의 의미를 갖는다.

영문 초록

This study tried to break stereotype centered on heterogeneity resulting from the different systems of North and South Korea after the division, and to present a new point of view about homogenization of North and South Korea that focus on living and culture dimension, reflecting changes such as globalization in South Korea and Marketization in North Korea. Previous studies revealed that heterogeneity is being strengthened centered on the ‘system/ideological dimension’, ‘ethnic/historical dimension’, and ‘psychological/conscious dimension’. On the other hand, this study considered that it is necessary to pay attention to the ‘living and cultural dimensions’ of ordinary residents in the homogenization of North and South Korea. In particular, from the point of view of cultural globalization, the phenomenon of South Korean popular culture spreading into the ‘Korean Wave’ along with North Korea s marketization, and at the same time appearing as North Korea’s South Koreaization in the current living culture of North Koreans, shows the possibility of the current homogenization of the two Koreas. Therefore, in the future, a new index that can identify changes between the two Koreas based on the homogeneity of the two Koreas rather than the heterogeneity of the two Koreas is needed.
