영문 초록

Tim O’Brien tells a story of John Wade who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD). The author utilizes discordance evidence, hypotheses, open ending, disconnected context and two narratives in this work. These methods of post-modern representation are effective means to show John’s PTSD. It is necessary that I find the strong possibility that John may have killed Kathy. Consequently, I stress that O’Brien represents John’s trauma in the context of Kathy’s disappearance in the lake of the woods, which is closely connected to the My Lai Massacre from the Vietnam War.
