{孰遂念}의 공간 설계와 문학적 사유

국문 초록

홍길주는 문집의 체제를 자신의 문학관을 보여주는 방식으로 이용했다. 『숙수념』은 그중 가장 급진적인 형태이다. 그는 온갖 장르와 온갖 성격의 글을 유기적으로 배치하기 위한 골조로 ‘숙수념’을 만들었다. ‘숙수념’이라는 공간은 제2세계로서, 현실계와 겹쳐지는 또 하나의 세계로 기획되었다. 이러한 공간 설계는 현실법칙에 따르는 혹은 현실법칙을 위반하는 모든 사유의 결과물들을 하나의 유기적 공간 안에 배치하도록 틀을 마련해준다. 숙수념의 이러한 공간 설계는 문학에 대한 새로운 사유를 가능케 한다. 즉 ‘숙수념’을 현실계와 겹쳐지는 또 하나의 세계로 설계함으로써, 현실계와 관념적/언어적 구조물의 관계를 실재와 그림자의 관계로 파악하게 된다. 또한 이러한 공간 설계는 언어적 구조물의 세계가 현실계로부터 독립된 자족적 공간일 수 있는 가능성을 열어놓았다. 따라서 기표와 기의 간에 절대적 관계가 없는 것으로, 문학의 본질을 문자의 기호적 결합과 재결합에 의해서 끊임없이 새로 창조되는 것으로 파악할 수 있게 된다. 언어적 환상세계를 이처럼 파악하기 때문에 그의 문학관에서는 ‘원본’의 존재가 부정되고, 끊임없는 이본의 생산 자체 - 즉 문학행위 행위 자체만 남게 된다. 이러한 문학관에서는 최종적인 진리가 부재하는 것이 당연한 결과일 것이다. 이 모든 것을 가능하게 하는 틀이 숙수념이 보여주는 공간 설계에서 시작된다. 다만 홍길주가 기호적, 판단중지적 사유방식을 극단까지 진행시키는 것 같지는 않다. 종종 그는 어중간한 상태에서 멈춰서고, ‘사대부적 교양세계’로 후퇴한다. 이것은 시대적 한계일 것이다.

영문 초록

The collection of works by Hong Gil-ju(洪吉周) shows his view on literature in visible form. Suksoonyeom is the most radical form among them. He made a structure, that is Suksoonyeom to organically allocate works in various genres and types. Suksoonyeom is a space. This space was designed as another world overlapping on real world as Second world. This space design of Suksoonyeom allows new thinking on literature. As he designed Suksoonyeom as another world overlapping on real world, he could understand the relation between real world and ideal/linguistic structure as the relation between actual existence and shadow. Also, this space design opened the possibility that the linguistic structure world could be independent and self-sufficient space from real world. Therefore, the absolute relation between signifiant and signifie was dissolved and the intrinsic nature of literature can be recognized as the thing which is consistently created by combination and recombination of signs. Therefore, the existence of original is denied in his view of literature, and continuous production of copy, that is the activity of literature itself only can be left. It is natural that final truth does not exist in this view of literature. The frame allows all these things started from the space design shown by the Suksoonyeom. However, Hong Gil-ju seemed not to take the this ideas to the extreme. He often stop in the middle. This may be the limitation of the time he lived in.
