영문 초록

The Poem(詩) of , the No.5 of 『Jibong Yuseol(Topical Discourses of Jibong)』, is comprised of 50 principles. It is mostly subject to the index of 『Shijing(the Book of Odes, 詩經)』, but compiled somewhat in a free way. The reason why the range of Confucian classics included in of 『Jibong Yuseol』 and the way they are listed are uncommon is also because Lee Soo-kwang had the comparatively unconventional view of Confucian classics. Lee Soo-kwang pointed out the problems and errors existing in the interpretation of Zhu Xi s 『Shijing(the Book of Odes)』, which was the mainstream theory of the time and instead, suggested an alternative. It completely covered the entire interpretation, including the expressions, vocabulary, phrase, and poems, and also highlighted his doubt about Yinshi (Licentious poetry, 淫詩說), which was one of the main points of Zhu Xi s Hermeneutics of Shihjing(詩經學). Lee Soo-kwang criticized that Zhu Xi annotated the same words or vocabulary within Shihjing differently and also that the annotation of the poem cited in different Confucian classics was different from that of Shijing. He also criticized interpretation which doesn t correspond to the context. And beyond just the criticism levelled at Zhu Xi s interpretation, he suggested an alternative with various literatures, including Confucian classics, Yunshu(Chinese rhyme dictionaries), Leishu(Encyclopedias), Congshu(Collectanea), historical book, books of philosophers, and herbalism book, to underpin it in order to maintain objectivity as well. His efforts for an objective attitude was clearly shown in his strict criticism even against Yang Shen(楊愼) s errors although he was highly inspired by Yang Shen s theory on the Confucian classics. Besides, Lee Soo-kwang also suggested his own interpretation about Shijing in the direct way to express his own opinion or with the pretext of someone s saying. Although he wrote as a part of Leishu, it was not for the purpose of the delivery of the existing theory of the Confucian classics. Rather, he aimed to correct the wrong mainstream theory on Confucian classics of the time and suggest the new direction to head for the Confucian classics of the Joseon Dynasty period.
