국문 초록

본 연구는 조나단 에드워즈가 이해한 완성된 천국에서 그리스도와 성도의 관계를 논증한다. 첫째, 그리스도와 성도의 존재론적 구별이다. 천국에서 성도는 그리스도와 구별되는 영혼과 몸을 가진다. 그들은 지상과 동일한 인격적 정체성, 즉 지상의 기억과 의식을 천국에 적합한 방식으로 가진다. 다시 말해, 그들의 의식은 그리스도의 의식과 다르며, 그들은 그리스도와 구별되는 인격적 행위를 한다. 이것은 그리스도와 성도가 존재론적으로 구별된다는 것을 지지하며, 천국에서 그리스도와 성도를 동일시하는 범신론을 경계한다. 둘째, 그리스도와 성도의 관계론적 연합이다. 이것은 천국에서 그리스도와 성도의 존재론적 구별을 훼손하지 않는 방식의 연합이다. 신비적 그리스도는 일종의 법적 인격체이며, 하나님은 그리스도와 성도를 하나로 받아들인다. 그리스도와 성도를 관계론적으로 분리하는 이신론을 경계한다. 셋째, 그리스도와 성도의 비대칭적 의존성이다. 그리스도는 삼위일체와 지복직관에 신적 방식으로 관계한다. 반면, 성도는 그리스도를 의존하여 삼위일체의 연합과 지복직관에 피조물의 방식으로 참여한다. 이것은 천국에서 그리스도와 성도의 존재론적 연속성을 지지하는 범재신론을 경계한다.

영문 초록

This study discusses Jonathan Edwards’ understanding on the consummated kingdom of God focusing on Christ’s relation to the saints. First, there is the ontological distinction between Christ and the saints in the kingdom of God. The saints have their own souls and bodies that are distinct from Christ. The saints have the same personal identity as on the earth, that is, the memory and consciousness, in a way suitable for the kingdom of God. In other words, their consciousness is different from that of Christ and they perform personal acts that are distinct from Christ. It supports the ontological distinction between Christ and the saints, guards against pantheism which equates Christ and the saints. Second, there is the relational union between Christ and the saints in the kingdom of God. This is a union in a way that does not undermine the ontological distinction between Christ and the saints. The mystical Christ is a kind of legal person, and God accepts Christ and the saints as one. It guards against the deism that separates Christ and the saints. Third, there is the asym- metric dependency between Christ and the saints in the kingdom of God. Christ relates to the Trinity and the beatific vision in a divine way. But the saints participate in the union of the Trinity and the beatific vision in a way of creature depending on Christ. It guards against panentheism which presupposes the ontological continuity between Christ and the saints.
