영화에 투영된 사회주의 루마니아의 회상과 청산

국문 초록

사회주의 루마니아의 설립 이후;영화는 문화운동의 가장 효과적인 정치 선동 수단으로 공산정권은 영화제작에 지대한 영향을 미치기 시작한다. 영화는 예술의 가면을 벗고;‘새로운 삶’을 위한 찬가가 되었으며;당의 목표를 환기하고 경주하며;노동자와 농민의 영광스러운 투쟁을 보여주어야 했다. 당이 제시한 ‘영화인의 고귀한 책무’라는 규범은 레닌과 스탈린의 위대한 사상;노동자와 대중교육을 위한 영화의 기여;이념적으로 진보된 대중 민주주의 영화의 성장과 통합을 규정하고 있다. 사회주의 동안 불의와 싸우는 공산주의자들의 투쟁에 관한 범주의 영화들 외에도 루마니아 역사와 민족의 영웅을 다룬 영화들도 많이 제작되었는데;이는 소비에트로부터의 새로운 독립 선언이자 차우셰스쿠 시대를 특징짓는 민족공산주의의 개시를 보여준다. 1970년대까지 픽션 영화는 루마니아 영화제작의 주류를 이루었다. 이후 인접 장르로 확장되어 1980년대에는 코미디와 역사 영화가 우위의 위치에 있었고;1982년 이후 자유주의가 완전히 중단된 이후에는 공산주의 체제에 대한 미묘한 비판을 담은 비유 영화가 등장하기도 한다. 사회주의 시절 정권의 검열에도 불구하고;음지에 있던 작가주의 감독들은 자신들이 표현하고자 한 것을 영상으로 옮기며;루마니아 영화 예술의 정통성을 지키고자 노력하였다. 1989년 혁명은 독재정권의 붕괴와 자유민주주의로의 복귀라는 의미 외에도 문화;예술 전반에 대한 자유를 환기하는 중요한 사건이었다. 혁명의 다양한 모습과 이미지를 담은 거친 촬영 효과는 1990년대 시작과 더불어 다큐멘터리;국내외 다큐 픽션;장편과 단편 영화에 영향을 미쳤으며;루마니아 ‘new wave’의 출현을 탄생시킨 21세기 첫 10년 동안의 궤적을 그리게 된다. 체제 전환 10년간의 상황을 영상에 담은 영화는 사회주의의 과거에 대한 역사적 청산과 체제 전환의 회상을 위한 바로미터가 되고 있다. 90년대의 어려운 정치 경제 상황은 루마니아에서 단 한 편의 영화를 온전히 만드는 것조차 허락하지 않았지만;자구적 노력과 전통 그리고 서구의 영향이라는 공산주의 이후의 공간에서 진행된 ‘old wave’의 자기반성과 후속세대의 성찰은 루마니아 영화의 ‘new wave’에 대한 실현 가능성을 한 걸음 더 내디딜 수 있게 만들었다. ‘Romanian New Wave’는 공식적으로 2000년의 시작과 함께 이루어진 것으로 알려졌지만;이 모든 영광의 이면에는 체제 전환의 90년대에서 척박한 루마니아 영화계를 경작하고 비옥하게 만들었던 핀틸리에(Pintilie);다넬리욱(Daneliuc);피짜(Piţa);굴레아(Gulea);카란필Caranfil) 감독과 같은 ‘old wave’ 세대의 노력 없이는 불가능한 것이었다.

영문 초록

After the establishment of socialist Romania;the communist regime began to exert a great influence on film production as the most effective political propaganda tool of the cultural movement. The film had to remove the mask of art;become a hymn for a ‘new life’;evoke and race the party’s goals;and show the glorious struggle of workers and peasants. The norm of the ‘noble responsibility of filmmakers’ proposed by the Party stipulates the great ideas of Lenin and Stalin;the contribution of cinema to education of workers and of the masses;and the growth and integration of ideologically advanced popular cinema. In addition to films in the category of the struggles of communists against injustice during the socialist period;many films were made about Romanian history and national heroes. The historical film marks the beginning of a new declaration of independence from the Soviet Union and the onset of national communism that marked the Ceausescu era. By the 1970s;fiction films were the mainstay of Romanian filmmaking. Since then;it has expanded to adjacent genres;and comedy and historical films took a dominant position in the 1980s. Following the complete cessation of liberalism after 1982;parabolic films containing subtle criticisms of the communist system appeared. Despite the censorship of the socialist regime;the consciously subjective directors in the shadows tried to preserve the legitimacy of Romanian film art by transferring what they wanted to express into film. The 1989 revolution was an important event that evoked freedom in culture and art in addition to the collapse of the dictatorship and the return to liberal democracy. With the beginning of the 1990s;the rough filming method containing various aspects and images of the revolution had an influence on documentaries;domestic and foreign documentary fiction;and feature films and short films. This effect traces the trajectory of the first decade of the 21st century that gave birth to the emergence of the Romanian ‘new wave’. The film;which captures the situation in the 10 years of transition;has become a barometer for the historical settlement of the socialist past and the recollection of transition. The difficult political and economic conditions of the 1990s did not allow even a single full-length film to be made in Romania. However;the self-reflection of the ‘old wave’ and the introspection of subsequent generations in post-communist space of self-effort;tradition;and Western influence made it possible to take a step further towards the realization of the ‘new wave’ of Romanian cinema. The ‘Romanian New Wave’ is officially known to have taken place at the beginning of the 2000s;but behind all its glory stand Pintilie;Daneliuc;Piţa;Gulea;Caranfil;who cultivated and fertilized the barren Romanian film industry in the 1990s of transition. It would not have been possible without the efforts of the ‘old wave’ generation like these directors.
