국문 초록

본 연구에서는 대학 교양교육으로서 고전세미나와 그 필요성을 알아보고, 각 대학에서 실행하고 있는 교과를 살펴보았다. 그리고 기존에 운영되고 있는 고전 세미나가 학생들의 독서능력을 고려하지 않고 소위 고전이라 일컬어지는 책들을 선정하여 운영되고 있다는 문제점을 찾게 되었다.따라서 본 연구에서는 학생들이 독서 자체에 흥미와 관심을 가질 수 있는 체험형 고전 세미나 교육에 대한 구체적 방법을 제시하였다. 이 교과의 목표는 고전 세미나를 통하여 학생 개개인이 자아 탐구의 계기를 갖고, 인간의 품성, 타인에 대한 이해, 사회의식을 함양하는 것이다. 이를 위한 독서 교육 방법은 학생들이 수렴적 사고와 발산적 사고를 거쳐 주제에 접근하여 다른 학습자들과 상호작용을 하며 새로운 지평을 찾아낼 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 이 교과 학습을 통하여 학생들은 독서에 대하여 흥미를 갖게될 것이며, 사고의 폭이 확대되고 자아탐구로 내적 성장을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 이 교과는 정원이 30명 이내일 때 이 연구가 제안하는 방법의 효과를 기대할 수 있다는 것이 문제점으로 남는다. 그럼에도 이 연구는 대학 교양 수업에서 고전 세미나 교육을 통해 학생들을 새로운 독서 읽기의 장으로 이끌고자 하는 연구자들에게 작은 보탬이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

In this study, the necessity of classical seminars as liberal arts education in university was investigated, and the curriculum which is practiced by each university was examined. And the problem that the existing classical seminars were operated by selecting so-called classics without considering students’ reading ability was found. Therefore, in this study, a specific method for experiential classical seminar education in which students could have an interest in reading itself was presented. The goal of this curriculum is to help each student to develop individual self-exploration opportunities, and to cultivate human character, understanding of others, and social awareness. The reading education method for this is to enable students to approach topics through convergent and divergent thinking, interact with other learners, and discover new horizon. Through this curriculum learning, students will have an interest in reading, expand the scope of their thinking, and be able to expect internal growth with self-exploration. However, the problem with this curriculum is that when the number of students is 30 or less, the effect of the method proposed by this study can be expected. Nevertheless, it is considered that this study could be of little help to researchers who want to lead students to a new field of reading through classical seminar education in university liberal arts classes.
