수학사를 활용한 수업에서의 수학 학습 태도와 수학 학습 과정

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 수학사 학습 자료를 활용한 실험집단과 일반적인 학습 자료를 활용한 비교집단간의 수학 학습 태도에 유의미한 차이가 있는지 알아보고, 수학사 학습 자료를 활용한 수업에서 나타난 학습 과정의 특징은 무엇인지 파악한다. 이 연구를 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수학사 학습 자료를 활용한 실험반과 일반 학습 자료를 활용한 비교반의 사후 태도를 독립표본 t 검정을 실시한 결과 유의미한 차이를 확인할 수 있었다. 실험집단의 사전 사후 태도 변화를 알아보기 위하여 대응표본 t검정을 실시한 결과에서도 수학사 활용 수업을 실시하기 전과 후에 유의미한 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 수학사 활용 수업에서 교사는 학생들의 탐구과정을 촉진시켜서 반성적으로 사고할 수 있도록 하는 과제를 제시하였으며, 개념적인 이해를 증진시켰을 뿐 아니라 해결 방법의 발견과 점진적인 발전에 필요한 핵심적인 정보를 제공하고 공유하는 역할을 하였다. 셋째, 각 학생의 아이디어는 정당하게 존중되고 보상되어 적극적인 상호작용의 토대로 작용하였고, 학생들이 자율적으로 해결 방법을 선택하고 공유하는 모습을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 실수는 학습의 과정으로 생각되어 추론의 전개와 대안 탐색의 토대로 활용되었으며, 상호작용을 통한 아이디어 또는 추측의 수학화과정은 수학적인 진리기준에 의한 판단에 의존하여 이루어졌다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to look over the math history materials in current textbooks at 9 level, make up their weak points, apply these materials to real classes and finally analyze the change of students learning attitude and the features of the learning process. For this purpose, two research topics were set up as below. Is there a meaningful difference in learning attitudes between an experimental group which studies with math history materials and a control group which studies with common learning materials? What are the characteristics of the learning process in an applied math history class? To research the first topic, third grade middle school students were divided into two groups, an experimental group and a control group and had eight experimental lessons in the discretionary classes. Then the differences in learning attitudes between the experimental group and the control group were analyzed statistically. To research the second topic, four students were purposively sampled depending on gender and the degree of achievement, observed very closely and interviewed. The role of the researcher is a participant observer. Research materials include a video tape, an audio tape, notes on class observation, interviews and various kinds of documents. This study shows a lesson with an applied math history has a positive effect on learning attitudes, teacher s role and the sociocultural atmosphere of a class.
