스크래치 프로그램을 사용한 주제통합형 수업이 고등학생의 프로그래밍 학습에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 프로그래밍 학습에서 스크래치 프로그램을 사용한 주제통합형 수업이 학생들의 학업에 미치는 영향을 알아보고, 이러한 새로운 방식의 수업적용 가능성을 검증한 것이다. 연구를 위하여 정보사회와 컴퓨터 과목에서 ‘VI. 정보처리의 이해’ 단원에 대해 컴퓨터 실습실에서 이루어지는 수업을 중심으로 주제통합형 수업을 설계하고, 강원도 원주시에 소재한 일반계 고등학교 1학년 4개 반을 대상으로 실험집단과 비교집단으로 나누어 실험집단은 주제통합형 수업을, 비교집단은 기존의 실습형(이하 주제독립형) 수업을 실시한 후에 학업성취도와 학습만족도 검사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 주제통합형 수업을 실시한 실험집단의 학업성취도가 주제독립형 수업을 실시한 비교집단과 유의미한 차이가 나타났고, 특히 여학생 집단의 학업 성취도가 남학생 집단보다 유의미하게 높게 향상되어 주제통합형 수업이 성변인에 따라 학업성취도에 미치는 효과가 다름을 알 수 있었다. 또한 학습만족도 검사에서는 주제통합형을 실시한 집단이 비교집단보다 높은 만족도를 보였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the academic effects of integrated topic instruction using the Scratch program on high school students programming classes and to verify the possible application of this new instruction method. For this study, we design an integrated topic instruction for computer exercise classes on the chapter of Ⅵ. the Understanding of Information Processing of the Information Society and the Computer course, and four classes of the first grade students in a high school at the Wonju city of the Kangwon province were participated. They were divided respectively into a control group who learned through the traditional programming (independent topic) instruction and an experimental group who learned through the new integrated topic instruction for comparison. After the classes, the academic achievement and satisfaction test were performed respectively. As a result, there was a difference between the experimental and the control group in regard of academic achievement through before-and-after t-verifications performed on the two groups respectively, and further a significant positive effect of female students achievement was found. We can also see that the integrated topic instruction has a positive effect on academic satisfaction. In conclusion, we have found the possibility of applying integrated topic instruction using Scratch to high school students programming classes through the step-by-step process of visual completion and therefore expect that this new method can settle down the problems of the programming classes. Especially we look forward to the effective improvement of the female students motivation of programming.
