소형교회 은퇴목회자의 삶과 딜레마에 대한 질적연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국사회 내 소형교회에서 은퇴한 목회자들이 직면하고 있는 삶과 딜레마를 심층적으로 이해하고, 이를 지원하기 위한 효과적인 방법을 도출하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 질적연구방법을 활용하여 그들의 삶과 사역의 딜레마에 초점을 맞추어 현장지향적으로 수행되었으며, 여러 지역 교회의 은퇴목회자들(목사 아내 포함)과 소형교회의 지도자 중에 핵심적인 연구참여자로 선정되어 진행되었다. 본 연구의 질적자료 분석방법은 CAQDAS(Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis Software)를 통해 수행되었으며, 이를 통해 전반적인 연구의 타당성을 확보하였다. 주요한 코딩전략으로는 전체적 코딩(holistic coding)을 활용하여 은퇴목회자들의 삶과 딜레마와 관련된 종합적인 맥락과 의미를 도출하기 위해 노력하였다. 질적자료분석을 통하여 소형교회 은퇴목회자들의 삶과 딜레마와 관련된 5가지 차원의 주요한 주제와 영역들을 도출하였는데 이는 1) 시간 활용과 무료한 일상생활: “시간에 대한 문제가 힘들어요”, 2) 극심한 경제적 어려움: “내가 수급자로 있으니깐, 정부가 39만원 줍니다”, 3) 목사의 정체성: “유지와 갈등 사이에서”, 4) 체계적인 은퇴 준비의 한계와 어려움: “교회의 생존과 존폐 앞에서 나의 은퇴준비를 어찌할 수 있겠습니까!”, 5) 은퇴 후 출석 교회와의 관계성: “누구에게도 부담을 주지 않고, 지혜롭게 출석해야지요” 이다. 해당 주제와 영역들은 소형교회 은퇴목회자들을 위한 각 교단 및 채게 교회 차원에서의 체계적인 지원 및 준비를 위한 정책적 시사점을 제공해준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to help find effective ways of support for retired pastors in small churches of South Korea, particularly, focusing on their life and dilemma in ministries through qualitative research methods. The participants of this study are selected from retired pastors of several local churches and leaders of small church who in charge of small sized churches, were selected for analysis based on how well they represented the range of experiences across the sample. The qualitative data analysis method of this study was performed through CAQDAS(Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis Software), and through this, the validity of the overall study was secured. In addition, the coding strategy was achieved through holistic coding, and efforts were made to derive the comprehensive context and meaning of retired pastors through qualitative data. Through qualitative approaches, I have discovered five dimensions of the life and dilemma on retired pastors in small churches: 1) difficulty and boredom in using time in daily life, 2) extreme economic difficulties, 3) identity conflict as a pastor, 4) limitations and difficulties of preparing for retirement, 5) relationship with the attending church after retirement. The five themes related to the lives and dilemmas of retired pastors derived through qualitative data analysis give several implications for systematic pastoral support and preparation of denominations and local churches.
