국문 초록

본 연구는 급속한 사회변화로 고조되는 세대 갈등 속 한국인이 맺는 세대 간 연대의 구조와 양상을 심층적으로 파악하고자하였다. 이를 위해 만 18세 이상 성인 30인을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하였고 수집된 자료를 근거이론 접근방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 한국인의 세대 간 연대 형성과정에서 나타난 중심현상은 ‘세대를 잇는 가는 실의 존재’로 확인되었다. 참여자들은 세대 간연대를 맺는 과정에서 전통적인 가족주의 연대에서 벗어나 서로의 삶의 영역을 존중하며 연대를 유지하고 있었다. 또한 IT기기를통해 공간적 한계를 넘어 부모와 자녀 사이의 연대를 유지하고 있음이 나타났다. 부모부양 및 노인돌봄의 주제와 관련하여 자녀세대는가족주의 관점에서 부모님 부양에 대한 의무와 책임을 갖는 동시에 미래의 부양부담에 한계를 느끼고 정책적 지원을 기대하고 있었다. 연구결과를 토대로 세대 간 연대의 변화를 반영한 정책마련과 학문적 논의의 필요성을 제안하고 후속연구의 방향을 제시하였다

영문 초록

The aim of this study was to gain an in-depth understanding of the structure and aspects of intergenerational solidarity among Koreans amid generational conflict, heightened by rapid social change. For this purpose, 30 adults (age 18 years and above) were interviewed, and the collected data were analyzed using a grounded theory approach. The findings of the study revealed that the central phenomenon evident in the solidarity formulation process between different generations of Koreans was “the existence of a thin thread that connects generations.” To form solidarity, the participants respected each other’s lifestyles, breaking away from the traditional familial practices. Additionally, it was found that solidarity between parents and children was maintained beyond the spatial limit through IT devices. Moreover, with respect to parental support and elderly care, the youngest (children’s) generation had the duty and responsibility to support their parents from a familial point of view, while being aware of the future burden they might have to face and hence expected policy support. Based on the results, the necessity for formulating policies that reflect the change in solidarity between generations and the need for academic discussion and direction of follow-up research was suggested.
