한국교회 통일교육의 시스템화 가능성 모색

국문 초록

한국교회가 통일을 위해 기도해 온지 70년이 넘어섰다. 여전히 한국교회 대부분의 공적 기도문에서 통일의 소원이 담긴 기도가 이어지고 있다. 이를 통해서 볼 때, 분명히 통일의 일정은 이전보다 가까워져 오고 있음이 분명하다. 산발적이기는 하나 통일을 위한 기도회, 기독교통일 신학연구, 기독교통일 이론 등의 연구도 진행되어 왔다. 하지만, 한국교회가 힘을 모아 함께하는 통일운동이나, 기구, 시스템 등은 전무하다. 교단별로 시스템화 된 통일교육을 시행하는 곳도 없다. 단적으로, 한국 기독교교단 어느 곳도 기독교통일을 위한 통일교재를 발행하여, 자라나는 통일세대들을 준비시키는 곳도 없다는 사실이 그 대표적 사례이다. 본 연구는 이러한 점에 문제의식을 갖고, 국가와 정부, 관련 연구단체의 시스템화된 통일교육 운동을 본 받아 한국교회와 기독교시민단체, 혹은 교단들의 시스템화된 기독교 통일교육 실시를 제안하고 있다. 단, 국가나 정부 혹은 연구소 등의 통일교육 시스템과 내용을 그대로 답습하자는 것이 아닌, 한국교회와 각각 교단 고유의 신학적 특성은 살리되, 복음통일을 지향하는 한국교회의 공통된 염원이 담긴 통일교육운동으로서의 시스템을 추구하자는 것이다.

영문 초록

Korean churches have prayed for the unification of South and North Korea for over seventy years. Today, most Korean churches regularly receive public prayer requests that focus on a Korean unification. When viewed in such a light, one could conclude that the day of unification is undeniably getting closer. And relatedly, prayer meetings, as well as theoretical and theological research into a “Christian” unification, have been developing rapidly. However, a comprehensive system that brings together the Korean Church’s unification movement and its related theories does not yet exist. Nor have any churches or academic institutions implemented a systematized approach to unification education. And more to the point, not a single Korean Christian order has attempted to put together and disseminate educational material to train and prepare the forthcoming post-unification generation. Building on these issues, this paper proposes a systematized Christian unification education geared toward Korean churches and Christian non-governmental organizations. The proposal takes inspiration from the systematized unification education movement that is currently utilized by Korean research institutions and the government. However, this paper does not seek to merely copy the research institutions and the government’s system. The paper’s proposal is a distinctly Christian one that draws from the theologies of both the Korean Church as a whole and from each of its respective orders. In particular, the proposal advocates the “Gospel unification” approach that is widely supported by all Korean churches.
