기업의 잉여자원이 연구개발투자와 경영성과간의 관계에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 연구개발 투자가 경영성과에 미치는 지연효과와, 가용 잉여자원, 재생가능 잉여자원 및 잠재적 잉여자원을 포함한 세 가지 이질적 잉여자원이 연구개발 투자와 경영성과 간의 관계에 미치는 조절효과를 분석하는데 있다. 2010년-2019년까지 중국 동북3성 116개 상장기업의 패널데이터를 토대로 고정효과 위계적 회귀모형을 적용하여 지연효과와 조절효과에 대해 검증을 실시하였으며, 실증 분석결과, 당기 연구개발 투자 집중도는 경영성과에 부(-)의 영향을 미치지만, 이후 3년까지 부(-)의 영향은 점차 감소하여, 4년이 되는 시기에 경영성과에 대한 영향이 정(+)의 영향으로 나타났다. 또한 기업의 가용 잉여자원과 잠재적 잉여자원은 연구개발 투자 집중도와 자산수익률 및 매출수익률 등 경영성과 간의 관계에 정(+)의 조절효과를 나타내는 반면, 재생가능 잉여자원은 연구개발 투자 집중도와 매출수익률 간의 관계에 부(-)의 조절영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과는 기업이 연구개발 투자가 즉각적인 이익을 가져오지 못하더라도 지속적으로 연구개발 투자에 주력하여야 하며, 이와 동시에 이질적 잉여자원에 대해 서로 다른 방식으로 관리해야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate both the lag effect of R&D investment on and the moderating effect of the three heterogeneous slack resources including available, recoverable and potential slack on this relationship. Based on the panel data from 116 listed companies of the three provinces in Northeast China with A share from 2010-2019, fixed effect hierarchical regression model is applied to examine the lag effect and moderating effect. The empirical results show that R&D intensity of current year is negatively related with business performance from the three provinces in Northeast China, however, this negative effect declines gradually from the cases of lag one period to lag three periods. In particular, for the four-year lagged case, R&D intensity shows significant positive impact on business performance. Moreover, available slack resource and potential slack resource positively moderate the relationship between R&D intensity and business performance measured by return on asset and return on sales while recoverable slack resource has negative moderating effect on the relationship between R&D intensity and return on sales. These empirical results implicates that enterprises should continually focus on R&D investment even though it can’t bring immediate return, and in the meanwhile, take the three heterogeneous slack resources differently to improve the return from R&D investment.
