국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 기독교 전통에서 연역적인 방법으로 논해져왔던 믿음의 개념을 인간의 삶의 측면에서 바라보고자하는 데 있다. 특히 기독교 전통신학을 현대시대와 화합시키고자 했던 폴 틸리히의 『사랑, 힘 그리고 정의』를 통해서 개인과 사회에서의 믿음이 어떤 모습으로 실존할 수 있는가를 논해보려는 작업이다. 우리에게 믿음을 요구한 존재는 하나님이다. 그러나 그 믿음을 실재로 살아가야 하는 것은 인간의 몫이기에 우리의 삶의 문제일 수밖에 없다. 그러한 삶의 현장에서 믿음을 다시 바라보고자 하는 것이 실존신학이라 하겠다. 실존이라 함은 삶의 현상을 직시하고자 하는 운동이며 추상적 정신작용에서 벗어나 현 사태를 정직하게 맞이하는 것이다. 아직도 교회는 성과 속을 가르는 일에 익숙하고 그 용어조차도 일상과의 이질감이 크다. 그러므로 거룩함이 일상이 되고자 하는 노력이 현대인의 신앙을 위해 필요하며 무엇보다 지금 우리의 시대를 종교적 믿음과 어떻게 화해시킬 수 있을까에 대한 연구가 확장되어야 한다. 믿음에 대한 현대적 해석과 비그리스도인과도 대화할 수 있는 보편적 언어의 구사는 종교인이 지녀야할 덕목이다. 틸리히는 믿음의 의미를 실존적으로 해석함으로써 우리에게 그 길을 내어준다. 게다가 믿음으로 사는 삶의 자리에서 우리가 궁극적으로 추구해야할 구체성을 사랑, 힘, 정의의 존재론적 탐구로 실제적인 신앙인의 삶의 길을 제시한다. 이는 개인을 넘어서 공동체와 인류를 위한 하나님 나라의 구체적 모습을 현시한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this thesis is to look at the concept of faith, which has been discussed in a deductive way in the Christian tradition, in terms of human life. In particular, it is a work to discuss how faith in individuals and society can exist through Paul Tillich s 『Love, Power, and Justice』, which tried to harmonize traditional Christian theology with the modern era. It is God who demands faith from us. However, it is a matter of our lives because it is up to humans to live that faith in reality. It can be said that existential theology is trying to revisit faith in such a field of life. Existence is a movement that seeks to face the phenomena of life, and is an honest encounter with the current situation, freeing from abstract mental processes. Still, the church is accustomed to separating between the Sacred and the Profane, and even the term has a strong sense of disparity from everyday life. Efforts to make holiness a daily life are necessary for the faith of modern people, and above all, research on how to reconcile our times with religious beliefs must be expanded. The modern interpretation of faith and the use of universal language to communicate with non-Christians are virtues for religious people. Tillich gives us the way by existentially interpreting the meaning of faith. In addition, in the place of life by faith, it presents the practical path of life of believers through an ontological search of love, power, and justice for the concreteness that we must ultimately pursue. It reveals the concrete picture of the kingdom of God for the community and mankind beyond the individual.
