척수장애인의 일상홈 프로그램 참여가 일상복귀에 미치는 영향에 대한 FGI 연구

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 중도장애인인 척수장애인이 갑작스런 사고나 질병으로 인해 장기간의 병원생활을 하며 겪게 되는 충격적인 일상의 변화와 그로 인한 사회로부터의 단절, 경제적 능력 상실, 가족 내 역할 변화 등의 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법을 찾기 위한 목적을 갖고 있다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 서구 선진국의 사례를 살펴보고, 국내에서 같은 목적으로 척수장애인 당사자 단체에서 진행되고 있는 일상홈 프로그램을 참가자 10명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰하여 분석하였다. 연구결과: 그 결과는 첫째, 척수장애인의 장기간 병원생활은 재활에 도움이 되기보다는 잔존능력을 약화하고 사회와 단절을 가중하게 되므로 병원입원 기간을 단축하고 조속히 지역사회로 돌아가 일상생활로 복귀하는 것이 바람직하다. 둘째, 일상복귀는 주거환경개선, 이동수단의 확보와 이동수단 활용능력 습득, 재교육을 통한 직업의 획득이 주 요인이 된다. 셋째, 성공적으로 일상복귀를 한 선배 척수장애인에 의한 모델링과 훈련은 척수장애인의 내적 재활욕구를 고취시키고 불가능한 것을 가능한 것으로 인식 전환하는 계기가 된다. 결론: 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 척수장애인의 일상복귀 시스템 마련과 정착을 위한 실천적, 제도적 방안을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The objectives of the current study were to examine solutions to societal isolation, economic loss, and role changes in familial relationships caused by traumatic life changes from long-term hospitalization by sudden accidents or diseases for people with spinal cord injury(SCI). Method: International cases of the Western advanced countries were examined and in-depth individual interviews for ten subjects who participated in the Back-to-Community program were conducted and analyzed. Results: First a long-term hospitalization of people with SCI weakened residual functions and increased societal isolation; thus, a short-term hospitalization and the active Back-to-Community program were necessary for people with SCI. Second, modification of home environment, abilities to obtain and to utilize daily transportation, and vocational rehabilitation through re-education were primary factors to improve the community re-entry for people with SCI. Third, the role-modeling and training by mentors with SCI who successfully re-entered into the community enhanced internal motivation and rehabilitation desire of people with SCI and provided opportunities for people with SCI to perceive their traumatic life difficulties as just challenging events. Conclusion: On the basis of the results, practical and systematic policies and implications were proposed for people with SCI in order to introduce the Back-to-Community programs and services.
