국문 초록

이 연구는 시나리오기반 과제형 대학생 문화민감성 평가도구를 개발하고 타당화하기 위한 것이다. 대학생 342명에게 문화적 갈등이 표출되는 가상의 상황에서 어떻게 행동할 것인지를 자유롭게 기술하도록 하였으며, 개발된 채점항목에 따라 2명의 채점자가 채점하였다. 산출된 자료를 다국면 Rasch 모형을 활용하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 난이도가 가장 낮은 항목은 ‘문화차이 인식’에 해당하는 ‘문화 갈등을 회피하지 않는다’ 였으며, 난이도가 가장 높은 항목은 ‘문화차이 이해․존중’에 해당하는 ‘편견 및 고정관념의 문제점을 이해’하는 것이었다. 둘째, 시나리오에 따라 과제 난이도에 차이를 보였으나, 두 채점자 간 엄격성에는 차이가 없었다. 셋째, 추정된 피험자들의 문화민감성 수준은 개방성 및 장애수준에 차이가 있는 사람들과의 접촉 경험과 정적 상관을 보였다. 시나리오기반 과제형 문화민감성 평가도구의 활용을 위한 향후 과제를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to develop and validate a scenario-based assessment of intercultural sensitivity for college students. To this end, intercultural scenario-based tasks were designed to allow students to freely describe their response to a culturally challenging and uncomfortable situation. 342 college students participated in the assessment and each of students’ responses was rated by the two raters according to the pre-designed scoring checklist. Adopting the many-facet Rasch model, the scoring items in the checklist were tested. The result showed that the lowest in the difficulty parameter was found to be ‘not avoiding intercultural conflict’, one of the scoring items describing the stage of intercultural recognition. A scoring item in the stage of understanding and respecting the cultural differences, ‘addressing prejudice and stereotypes,’ was the highest in the difficulty parameter. Another results showed that task difficulty varied across the types of scenarios while the raters’ rigor did not differ significantly across the two raters. Lastly, the levels of college students’ intercultural sensitivity were positively related to the levels of openness and the frequency of interaction with people with disabilities. Scholarly and practical implications were discussed based on these results.
