정서표현양가성이 이상섭식행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 20-30대 성인을 대상으로 정서표현양가성과 정서조절양식이 이상섭식행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고, 정서표현양가성이 이상섭식행동에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 정서조절양식의 매개효과를 검증하는데 있다. 설문조사에 응답한 328명을 대상으로 한국판 정서표현양가성 척도, 정서조절양식 체크리스트, 섭식태도 척도를 실시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 정서표형양가성이 이상섭식행동에 미치는 영향과 이 변수의 관계에서 정서조절양식의 매개효과를 분석하였다. 분석한 결과 정서표현양가성과 이상섭식행동 사이에 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 정서표현양가성과 이상섭식행동 사이에서 정서조절양식의 역할을 살펴본 결과, 정서조절의 하위요인 중 회피분산적 양식만이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 정서표현양가성과 이상섭식행동과의 관계에서는 정서조절양식의 하위 요인들 중 회피분산적 양식만이 유의한 매개효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 사람들의 정서표현의 양가감정이 이상섭식행동에 영향을 미치며, 회피분산적 양식이 중요한 요소로 작용하고 있음을 보여준다. 그러므로 이상섭식행동의 예방을 위하여 다양한 정서표현, 정서조절 방법에 대한 프로그램 개발 및 상담이 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The objectives of this study were to find out (1) whether ambivalence over emotional expression is affects abnormal eating behaviors, (2) whether emotion control styles affect abnormal eating behaviors and (3) whether emotion control styles mediate the link between ambivalence over emotional expression and abnormal eating behaviors. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, ambivalence over emotional expression had an effect on abnormal eating behaviors, and the correlation between these two variables was positive. Second, among sub factors of emotion control styles, only avoidant/distractive control style was associated with abnormal eating behaviors. This means that other subfactors such as active emotion control and support-seeking were not directly related to abnormal eating behaviors. Third, avoidant/distractive control style mediated the process between ambivalence over emotional expression and abnormal eating behaviors. These findings confirm the relationships of ambivalence over emotional expression with abnormal eating behaviors and the important mediating role of avoidant/distractive control style in their link. This study therefore signifies need for development of programs and counselling support for emotional expression and regulation strategies as part of the effort to prevent abnormal eating behaviors. Lastly, the limitations of this study and suggested solutions are discussed.
