영문 초록

This research conducted analysis on the technological innovation of China’s next generation vehicles and the influence of the government’s policy. China’s EVs industry policy has been focused on the improvement of battery technology. There was a significant increase in battery-related patents when analyzed with SIPO, and the universities played an important part. Considering the quality of the patents, however, innovation appeared in the vehicle controlling systems field instead of the batteries field, and the main agents were the private companies. In terms of policy, it was expected that smart environment communication and automated vehicle platform computing will achieve the biggest technological success in the SDVs field. PCT patents analysis drew a similar result as the previous expectation, but the USPTO analysis showed that only the patents in communication technology stood out. Furthermore, although the increase in number of patents was led by the universities, the improvement of competitive technology of patents was led by the private companies. In conclusion, China’s direction of industry policy and their result of technological innovation seemed to match, but taking a detailed look at it, the true innovation occurred in the private sector. This implies that the government’s influential power was not as great as expected.
