Extremophiles have evolved specific survivial mechanism to survive in extreme environments. It enables to express specific metabolites such as specific enzymes or new bioactive metabolites. Four known constituents, citromycetin, citromycin, sulochrin and penstyrylpyrone, were isolated from antarctic marine-derived Sporothrix sp. SF-7266. Their structures were determined by NMR and MS techniques. These metabolites have been previously reported with various bioactivities and specifically, penstyrylpyrone is a kavalaction derivative, which had exhibited psychotropic effects. Biological evalution of the compounds isolated are underway.
