제주지역연구의 성과와 전지구화시대 제주학의 발전 방향

국문 초록

이 글에서는 전지구화, 정보화, 지방화를 겪으면서 지역사회를 단위로 한지역학이 어떤 방향으로 나아가야 하는지를 제주학 관련 연구기관의 조직 화과정과 지역연구 성과를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 먼저 제주에서는 1960년 대부터 제주학 및 제주지역 연구를 위한 연구기관들이 조직되기 시작했으나 비교적 연구 활동이 활발하게 이루어지기 시작한 것은 1980년대 이후이다. 제주학 및 제주지역 연구기관들 가운데 대표적인 곳이 제주대 부설기관인 탐라문화연구소와 민간 연구기관인 제주학회이다. 탐라문화연구소의 학술지인 『탐라문화』는 주로 인문학 분야 연구자들이 중심이 되고 여기에 사회과학 분야 연구자가 가세하는 형태를 띠고 있다. 이에 반해, 제주학회의 학술지인 『제주도연구』에 수록된 연구 분야를 보면 당시 학회 집행부에 따라 연구 분야가 약간의 편차를 보이지만 대체로 인문학, 사회과학, 자연과학 분야가 비교적 골고루 분포되어 있다. 최근 지역 간, 국가 간 이주의 급격한 증가와 국가 간 경계를 초월한 다양하고 이질적인 문화권 간 접촉이 증가하고 있는 상황에서 지역학의 연구 방향과 내용도 변화할 필요가 있다. 전지구화, 정보화, 지방화시대에 지역학으로서 제주학도 이제는 보편론적 시각을 확보해 나가야 한다.

영문 초록

Although the investigation research to the Jeju Island was activated in a rise of the concern about social history, a life history, and cultural history, in globalization, and a localization flow, it turns out that there is a limit decided as usual in the time for research and a field side. If involved with a related setup of the Jeju studies, most researches which were made connected with the Jeju history and approached by modem history research of the Jeju Island area are the actual condition which is not. When the fact that Jeju Island was the traditional seashore road regularly used when interchanging with the approachability of geographical distance and other areas of especially a South Korean peninsula compared with other areas, and the coast which approached most etc. was taken into consideration, cultural exchange may have been realized flourishing. Therefore, the investigation research exchange in Jeju studies, it will help each other for academic enhancement each other. For this, reclamation of research situation is important. Therefore, we have to enlarge the meaning of studies and purpose to make a general theory.
