국문 초록

이 글은 4·3 다큐멘터리의 담론 성격 및 그 시기적 경향을 분석하고 있다. 담론의 성격은 사건에 대한 재정의를 중심으로 규명되고 있다. 그 외 제주인의 이미지, 표현방법, 제작자의 시각이나 제작목적, 시청자나 관객에게 미친 영향 등도 논의되고 있다. 공중파 방송의 경우, 첫 담론 시기인 1989-1997년은 4·3이 아직도 남아있는 비극적인 사태로, 두 번째 시기인 1998-2002년은 대량학살과 제주인의 깊은 상처로, 마지막 시기인 2003-현재는 진상규명투쟁사로 재현된다. 한편 독립영화의 경우, 첫 시기인 1993-1996년은 4·3이 외세와 분단에 저항하는 민중항쟁으로, 그 다음 시기인 1997-현재는 국가폭력과 인권유린으로 재해석된다. 4·3 다큐멘터리는 대항기억의 재한을 통해 4·3의 존재 자체의 고발에서부터 민중항쟁이나 대량학살의 참상까지 증명하고, 새로운 해석을 내리고 있다. 이러한 담론들의 전환은 사회정치적 배경, 생산주체, 제작자의 시각 등에 의해 비롯되고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper will be analyzed the discourses of 4·3 which have been represented in documentaries. 4·3 in TV films is divided three periods: the first period(1989-1997), had been represented 4·3 as an affair given a serious tragedy to its residents. The Communists Riot called an official history of 4·3 had changed into Genocide by Government in works produced in the second period(1998-2002). From 2003 to today, documentaries represent a history of resistance memories, struggling for the fact-finding of 4·3. The independent movies use more powerful messages and expressions to represent resistant memories. The independent movies represented 4·3 as People s Struggle fought against foreign countries and the partition of the Korean peninsula in 1993-1996. From 1997 to today, the independent movies like the airs show the truth of 4·3 as a national violence, a mass murder, and an outrage upon personal rights. The changes of the discourses come from socio-political context, institutional background of the production, and the perspective of the producer/director. Beyond the analysis of the discourses, the changes of Jeju people s image, the visual and aural texture of the films, the background of the producer/director, the influence on the audience, will be discussed.
