국문 초록

이 논문은 1910, 1920년대 민족운동 단체들이 사용한 화폐의 현황과 교환 비율, 그리고 실제 민족운동 단체의 의무금과 회비를 통해 재정문제에 대해 초보적으로 탐색한 글이다. 민족운동 단체는 의무금과 특별금으로 나누어 재정을 운영하였다. 의무금은 주로 경상비를 충당하는데 사용한 경우가 많았다. 단체들이 사용한 화폐는 현지의 사정을 반영한 것이기는 했지만, 기본적으로 멕시코 달러와 미국달러가 교환의 기준이었다. 중국의 관내에서는 중국은행 등의 화폐가, 만주에서는 봉천표가 기준 화폐였다. 민족주의운동 계열은 회원 각자의 자발성에 근거를 둔 회비보다는 국민으로서의 의무라는 시선이 강하게 반영된 의무금이란 성격의 돈으로 재정을 충당한 경우가 많았다. 그러다보니 각지의 한인사회와 충돌하는 일도 있었다. 만주에서 특히 그러한 경향이 농후하였다. 사회주의운동 계열은 양자 사이의 빈틈을 뚫고 영향력을 확대하였다.

영문 초록

Examined in this preliminary study, are the currencies used by Nationalist Movement organizations during the 1910s and 1920s, along with the exchange rates between those currencies, and the financial status and conditions of the organizations, which depended upon their membership fees and other obligatory submissions. Nationalist Movement organizations primarily managed their finance in two areas: obligatory submissions and specially collected fees. The former was used in general expenditure. Some of these organizations usually used U.S. and Mexican dollars, reflecting the situations they were facing where they were. In China, where the Korean Nationalist movement was most active and vibrant, currency of the China bank, and in Manchu region the Bongcheon-pyo, served as the primary currency for these organizations. Nationalist Movement organizations also relied upon obligatory collections. And that sometimes led to clashes with the resident Korean communities. Cases of that sort were frequently reported in the Manchu region, and such tension was exploited by the Socialist Movement organizations, which continued to expand their influences.
