『꿈하늘』의 새로운 읽기

국문 초록

대부분의 연구자들은 여전히 개정판 『단재신채호전집』의 텍스트를 중심으로 연구하고 있다. 그런데 그것은 북한의 『룡과 룡의 대격전』을 바탕으로 한 것으로 텍스트가 삭제 및 탈락, 그리고 재구성되기도 했다. 그것은 신채호의 유고를 필사한 『신채호문학유고선집』과 비교해보면 자세히 드러난다. 『꿈하늘』은 처음 안함광, 주룡걸 등 북한의 편집자들이 역사담론을 서사에 불필요한 부분으로 간주하고 탈락시켰다. 그러나 연구자들도 탈락된 부분의 중요성을 제대로 인식하지 못하고 있다. 과연 탈락된 것은 군더더기이거나 없어도 무방한 부분인가? 탈락 부분에 대한 연구, 또는 복원의 필요성은 없는가? 본고에서는 단재의 유고 『꿈하늘』에서 탈락된 부분을 검토하여 『꿈하늘』을 새롭게 읽어보았다. 『꿈하늘』은 1916년 씌어진 이후 묻혀 있다가 1964년 세상에 빛을 보았다. 단재는 『꿈하늘』에서 우리나라의 지리적 강역을 분명히 하고, 주체적 민족정신의 계통화를 추구했다. 그는 『신지비사』와 『남제서』를 통해 고조선과 백제의 강역을 분명히 했다. 그것은 사라지거나 잊혀진 우리의 강역을 분명히 했다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 아울러 그는 우리 역사에서 자주적 낭가사상을 강조했고, 화랑의 역사적 계통을 밝혔다. 그러므로 현재 탈락된 역사 담론 부분은 작품 구성에 또 하나의 축이며, 남아있는 작품의 서사를 구체화할 뿐만 아니라 작품의 주제의식을 강화하고 더욱 분명히 해준다는 점에서 결코 무시하거나 배제해선 안 된다. 오히려 『꿈하늘』유고를 있는 그대로 제시하는 것이 바람직하다. 하물며 단재는 자신의 원고에 함부로 손대는 것에 대해 누구보다 강하게 반발하고 싫어했던 인물이 아닌가. 한편 이 작품은 ‘진단구변국도’라는 비결과 깊은 관련이 있다. 단재는 『꿈하늘』에서 진단구변국도에 대한 자신의 해석을 덧붙였다. 바로 오늘날이 제4변국이며 사대주의자들의 득세로 수백 년 이어져온 역국의 여얼이 남아있지만, 곧 국수주의의 순국이 전개될 것이라는 것이다. 그리고 그러한 국수주의는 종교적 무사혼을 통해 달성되리라 했다. 한놈이 도령군 놀음곳을 직접 찾아가는 것도 그러한 정신의 반영이다. 지금도 단재의 표현처럼 여전히 역국의 여얼이 남아 있다. 그러므로 민족주의(국수주의)를 통해 순국을 맞이할 수 있다는 단재의 말은 100년이 지난 오늘에도 여전히 유효하다.

영문 초록

Most of researchers still focus on researching the revised edition of Complete Collection of Danjae Shin Chae-ho. However revised edition which is based on A Fierce Battle between Dragon and Dragon. in North Korea, had some of its original text removed, eliminated or reconstituted. It is clearly emerged by comparing with The Selection of Shin Chae-ho’s Literary Posthumous Manuscripts. Some parts of “Dream Heaven” had been eliminated at first because the editors in North Korea such as Ahn Ham-gwang, Ju Ryoung-gul and etc considered historic discourse of it unnecessary in “Dream Heaven”. However even the researchers didn’t know the importance of the part which had been eliminated. Is the part which had been removed unnecessary and unneeded? Is there no need to restore or research what had been removed? In this study, I went through what had been removed in Dan Jae’s posthumous work “Dream Heaven” and newly interpreted it. After “Dream Heaven” was written in 1916, it had been underground until it came to light in 1964. Dan Jae made clear the geological boundary in Korea and pursued to systematize the independent national spirits. He clarified the boundary of Baek Jae and Old Korea with Shinjibisa(神誌祕詞) and Namjaesoe(南齊書). It has its own meaning in recalling and clarifying our forgotten or disappeared territory. In addition, he emphasized our independent Nangga(郞家) idea in our history and make clear historical system of Hwarang. Thus, the part which had been eliminated is another important axis in composition of “Dream Heaven”. It not only materialize the narration of the work left now, but also emphasize the thematic consciousness of the work, so it must not be ignored or removed. Rather, we should present posthumous work “Dream Heaven” as it is. Besides, Danjae is a kind of person who hated and strongly opposed to modifying his work more than anyone. Meanwhile, this work has to do with a secret called Jindan-guboen-gukdo(震檀九變局圖). Danjae appended his interpretation about Jindan-gubeon-gukdo in “Dream Heaven”. That is; Today is the forth state and flunkeyism has gained power for centuries, however nationalism will get its power sooner or later. Also, that nationalism will achieve its goal with religious warrior spirits. Still, a stain of disobedience is remaining just like what Danjae described. That’s why we can get peace only from nationalism. What Danjae said still stands today, after 100 years.
