국문 초록

아우구스티누스의 인격은 이성적 영혼과 물질적 육체의 결합으로 구성된 개별 실체로서 그 존재에서부터 이미 영혼 편에서 육체를 사랑으로 결합하는 관계적 구조를 드러내며, 이 관계의 원리인 사랑의 지향으로 물질세계와 자기 자신, 그리고 하느님에 대한 인식에 이를 수 있다. 사랑과 인식으로 구성된 인격의 존재는 타자에 대한 사랑의 인식을 통해 역동적으로 재규정하는데, 이렇게 사랑에 바탕을 두고 자기 존재를 재규정하는 인식 구조는 그의 존재가 성부와 성자와 성령으로부터 기인하는 삼위일체적 차원을 지님을 드러내 준다. 하지만 인격이 삼위일체 하느님의 참된 모상이 되기 위해서는 자기 정신에 새겨진 삼위일체적 존재구조, 곧 자기-기억, 자기-인식, 자기-사랑을 사랑이신 하느님으로부터 선사된 사랑의 선물을 통해 하느님-기억, 하느님-인식, 하느님-사랑으로 전회하도록 불림을 받는다. 이렇게 인격이 ‘하느님인 사랑’을 통해 ‘사랑이신 하느님’을 지향함으로써 하느님의 모상으로 존재하는 그만큼, 그가 서로간의 사랑을 통해 타자와 맺는 상호 인격적인 관계는 서로가 서로에게 하느님을 개현하는 성삼위의 관계에 참여할 수 있는 가능성을 열어 준다.

영문 초록

In Augustine’s thought the person (persona) means the individual substance consisting of the mixture of rational soul and material body, thus showing its intrinsically relational structure from its own being in which the soul unites its body to itself out of love, and by virtue of the intention of love (intentio amoris) as principle of the very relation (relativum) it comes to know the material world, itself, and God. The being of person constituted by love and knowledge is dynamically redetermined by its knowing other things with love, and such a cognitive structure based on love manifests the person’s being in its trinitarian dimension deriving from God the Trinity. In order to authentically become the image of God, however, the person is called to convert the trinitarian structure incised on its mind as self-memory, self-understanding, self-love into God-memory, God-understanding, God-love through the gift of love given by God himself. The more the human person approaches to the perfection in being the image by aiming at ‘God who is love’ through ‘love that is God’, the more the interpersonal relation in which it enters with another by mutual love opens up the possibility to participate in that of the divine persons, showing God to one another from its own being.
