한국의 산업별 수출고도화 수준과 결정요인 분석

국문 초록

세계 각국은 COVID-19로 인해 대공황이후 가장 심각한 경기침체를 경험하고 있으며 이러한 상황 속에서 경제에서 수출 이 큰 비중을 차지하는 우리나라는 위기를 극복하기 위해 수출의 양적인 측면뿐만 아니라 질적인 측면을 활발하게 논의해볼 필요가 있다. 이에 따라, 본 논문은 1990년부터 2018년까지 전 세계 수출 데이터를 토대로 산출한 산업별 수출고도화 지수를 통해 우리나라의 현재 수출고도화 수준을 논하고 여기에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 변수인 수출 증가율, 설비투자규모, 연구개발 비용, 노동생산성 지수 사이의 결정요인을 산업별 패널자료를 이용하여 실증분석한다. 기존의 수출고도화 지수와 이에 대한 결정요인 분석이 대부분 국가 전체측면에서 연구되었던 것과 비교하여 본 논문은 이를 산업별로 구성하여 분석함으로써 산업별 보이지 않는 이질성을 통제하고자 하였다. 우리나라의 산업별 수출고도화 수준은 90년대에는 주로 섬유산업과 섬유 제품, 전자전기 산업에 그리고 2000년대 들어서는 기계 및 기계장비, 2010년대에는 전자전기 산업에 고도화된 수준을 가지 고 수출을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 주요국가와의 비교에서도 90년대 20위권을 기록했던 것과 달리 최근에는 10위권으로 상승한 것으로 나타났다. 수출고도화 지수 결정요인 실증분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 기업들이 생산량과 수출량을 늘릴 수 있도록 생산설비 및 연구개발 지원, 수출판로지원 등과 같은 지원책이 적극적으로 도입되길 기대한다. 둘째, 기업들 의 수출제품 품질을 향상시키기 위해서는 물적투자보다는 연구개발 비용 지원, 기술 인력 지원, 연구사업 장려 등과 같은 무형투자가 더욱 효과가 클 것으로 생각된다. 셋째, 노동생산성을 증가시킬 필요가 있다. 노동생산성의 증가는 상품의 효율 적인 생산을 이끌고 이를 통해 비교우위를 가지게 하며 이는 결국 수출의 증가로 이어질 수 있을 것이다

영문 초록

Countries around the world are experiencing a serious economic downturn since the Great Depression. In this situation, Korea, where exports account for a large portion of the economy, needs to actively discuss not only the quantitative aspects but also the qualitative aspects of exports to overcome this crisis. Accordingly, this paper discusses the current level of export sophistication in Korea through the export sophistication index by industry calculated based on global export data from 1990 to 2018, and the variables that can affect the export growth rate, facility investment scale, The determinants between R&D cost and labor productivity index were empirically analyzed using panel data by year and industry. Compared with the analysis of the existing export sophisticaion index and its determinant factors, which were mostly studied in the whole country, this paper attempted to control the heterogeneity not seen by industry by organizing and analyzing it by industry. Through the calculation of the export sophistication index for each industry, you can find out the level of export sophistication by industry in the 90s. It has been shown that exports are made at an advanced level. In comparison with major countries, it was found that it has recently risen to the 10th place, unlike the 20th place in the 1990s. The results of the empirical analysis of the determinants of the export sophistication index are as follows. First, it is expected that support measures such as support for production facilities, R&D, and export sales channels will be actively introduced so that domestic companies can increase production and exports. Second, in order to improve the quality of export products by companies, intangible investments such as R&D cost support, manpower support, and research project encouragement are considered to be more effective than physical investment. Third, it is necessary to increase labor productivity, and the increase in labor productivity leads to efficient production of goods, thereby giving them a comparative advantage, which can lead to an increase in exports.
