국문 초록

본 연구는 저소득층의 점유형태에 따른 생활비 지출특성이 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 이항로짓모형을 이용해 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 저소득층의 삶의 질 개선을 위한 시사점을 고찰하였다. 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 저소득층 차가 가구원의 우울은 자가 가구원에 비해 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 저소득층의 경제적 문제는 우울과 같은 정신건강의 악화에 있어 큰 영향을 미치고 있었다. 셋째, 저소득층의 생활비 지출특성이 정신건강에 미치는 영향은 점유형태별로 차이가 있었는데, 고정지출은 특히 차가의 우울감에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 지출특성 중 주거비는 저소득층의 우울에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인이었으며, 차가일수록 그 영향력은 더 커지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 저소득층은 경제사정에 따라 줄이는 것이 거의 불가능한 고정적ㆍ기초생활적 성격을 가진 생활비로 인해 우울이 심화될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 차가의 경우 주거비와 생계비처럼 삶을 안정적으로 유지시킬 수 있는 비용에 대한 부담이 커질수록 우울감이 높아지는 것으로 나타나 생활안정이 그들의 안정적 삶의 유지에 있어 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 파악하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of living expenses of low-income households on mental health by housing tenure type and also to suggest the implications of housing supports and policies for low-income households based on a binomial logit model. The main results are as follows. First of all, the depression of low-income renters was higher than that of low-income homeowners. Second, it was confirmed that the economic problems of the low-income households had a significant impact on the deterioration of mental health, such as depression. Third, the effect of living expenses on mental health differed by housing tenure type. In particular, fixed expenditure has been shown to have a greater impact on the mental health of renters. Fourth, housing costs were the most important factor affecting the depression of low-income households, and its impact on renters was found to be greater. These results confirmed that low-income households could suffer from depression due to mainly the fixed living expenses that are almost impossible to reduce depending on economic conditions. In particular, it was found that in the case of renters, the greater the burden of living expenses including housing and living costs, the greater the depression.
