국문 초록

디모데전서 2:8-15는 신약성경에서 가장 부담스럽고 피하고 싶은 단락일 것이다. 아마도, 이 단락에 나타난 바울의 권면이 그 당시에만 적용 가능한 특수성(特殊性)을 갖는지 아니면, 오늘날에도 적용 가능한 보편성(普遍性)을 갖는지에 대한 이슈 때문일 것이다. 본 논문의 중요한 목적은 필자가 이 단락의 두 성격을 인식하면서, 주석의 방법으로 이 단락의 의미를 드러내는 것이다. 필자는 단락의 전후 문맥뿐만 아니라 단락이 속한 디모데전서의 전체 정황을 고찰한 이후, 다음의 결과물을 도출한다. 먼저, 이 단락과 이 단락이 속한 편지 전체의 정황은 공적인 예배의 상황이다. 2:1-7에서 주로 다루어진 기도의 정황이 2:8-15에서도 계속된다는 것을 8절의 접속사 ‘운’(οὖν, “그러므로”)이 보여준다. 2:8에서 시작된 공적 모임의 기도의 상황은 2:9의 부사 ‘호사우토스’(ὡσαύτως, “이와 같이”)를 통해 계속된다. 둘째, 바울은 남자와 여자가 기도하기 전과 후에, 새 시대 백성의 정체성에 합당한 삶을 살도록 권면한다. 셋째, 예배의 상황 속에서 여자에 대한 권면은 더욱 확장된다. 바울은 2:13을 창세기 2장, 14절을 창세기 3장에 연결하면서, 하와보다 아담의 시간적인 우선성을 주장하고 가정에서의 역할을 교회까지 적용하면서 일종의 원리를 제시한다. 마지막으로, 2:8-15는 특수성과 보편성 모두를 포함하고 있는데, 문맥 전체 안에서 보편성이 두드러진다. 무엇보다도, 본 단락에서 다루는 주제가 보편적이다. 이렇게 도출된 결과물들을 기초로 해서, 필자는 2:8-15의 보편적인 성격과 함께, 바울의 권면이 영속적이라는 사실을 드러낸다.

영문 초록

1 Timothy 2:8-15 is one of the most burdensome paragraphs in the New Testament. The reason for it arises from the issue of wheth￾er Paul’s exhortation in the paragraph has particularity applicable only at that time or universality applicable today. The main purpose of this paper is that the author reveals the meaning of this paragraph by way of exegesis, recognizing the two characteristics in it. The author examines the overall context of 1 Timothy to which the para￾graph belongs, as well as the context before and after the paragraph. Then, the following results are derived: first, the context of the whole letter to which the paragraph belongs is a situation of public worship. The conjunction ὖο ν in verse 8 shows that the context of prayer, mainly dealt with in 2:1-7, continues in 2:8-15. The situation of prayer in public meetings that began at 2:8 continues through the adverb ὡύσατως in 2:9. Second, Paul exhorts men and women to live a life worthy of the people of the new age in situations before and after prayer. Third, in the context of worship, Paul’s exhortation to women is further expanded in light of Genesis 2 and 3. Paul con￾nects 2:13 to Genesis 2 and 2:14 to Genesis 3, insisting on Adam’s temporal priority over Eve. He suggests a kind of principle, applying his role in the family to the church. Finally, 2:8-15 includes both particularity and universality. Nevertheless, the latter is prominent throughout its context. On the basis of these findings, the author reveals that with the universal character of 2:8-15, Paul’s ex￾hortation is permanent.
