국문 초록

본 연구는 조나단 에드워즈(Jonathan Edwards) 신학에 나타난 하나님과 세계 관계가 “존재론적 구별, 관계론적 연합, 비대칭적 의존성”이라는 것을 밝힌다. 첫째, 에드워즈는 하나님과 세계의 존재론적 구별 즉, 하나님과 세계의 존재 방식의 질적차이를 제시한다. 이것은 하나님의 타자성이나 초월성을 확보하며, 하나님과 세계의 존재론적 연속성을 주장하는 범신론을 경계한다. 둘째, 에드워즈는 하나님과 세계의 관계론적 연합 즉, 존재 방식의 융합이나 훼손 없는 연합을 제시한다. 이것은하나님과 세계의 관계성을 확보하며, 하나님의 세계참여를 배제하거나 제한하는유물론과 이신론을 경계한다. 셋째, 에드워즈는 하나님과 세계의 존재론적 구별과관계론적 연합의 작동방식으로 하나님과 세계의 비대칭적 의존성을 제시한다. 즉, 하나님의 절대적 자유는 하나님의 자유로운 의지를 훼손하는 범재신론을 경계한다. 반면, 세계의 상대적 자유는 하나님과 구별되는 제2원인 자체를 부정하는 기회원인론을 경계한다.

영문 초록

Edwards presents the ontological distinction between God and the world, that is, he secures the qualitative difference between God and the world. It means there is no ontological continuity between God and the world, and se- cures God s otherness or absolute transcendence guarding against pantheism. Edwards suggests the relational union between God and the world, that is, he secures a union without fusion and destruction in the way of being. It means there is no relational disconnection between God and the world, and secures God s participation in the world guarding against materialism or deism. Ed- wards presents the asymmetric dependency between God and the world. It supports the ontological distinction and relational union between God and the world. In other words, God s absolute freedom guards against panentheism that undermines God s free will. In addition, the relative freedom of the world guards against occasionalism that undermines the second cause itself distinct from God.
