어린이 세례 시행에 대한 소고

국문 초록

본고는 어린이 세례 시행의 신학적 정당성과 유익을 논의하였다. 필자는 (성인) 세례의 신학적 의의와 유익 그리고 유아 세례의 당위성과 유익의 관점에서 볼 때그리고 어린이의 발달심리학적 특성으로 볼 때 어린이 세례 시행은 지극히 당연하고 유익하다고 주장하였다. 그뿐만 아니라 더욱 의미 있고 효과적인 세례 시행을위해 철저한 세례 전과 후의 교육과 의미를 부여하는 세례 예식이 필요하다고 제안하였다. 물론 어린이 세례 시행과 관련하여 이제 걸음마 수준에 있는 오늘의 상황으로 볼 때, 앞으로 이에 대한 더 깊은 연구와 제안들이 필요하다고 판단된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to discuss the theological justification and ben- efit of implementing ‘child baptism.’ The article argues that the implementa- tion of child baptism is quite natural and beneficial from the point of view of theological significance and benefit of (adult) baptism, from the point of view of the justification and benefit of infant baptism and from the developmental psychological nature of children. It also proposes that both the thorough edu- cation before and after baptism and the implementation of ceremony carefully designed to help the participants to understand genuine meanings of child bap- tism is necessary for more meaningful and effective execution of it. Of course, given today’s situation at its infancy level, further research and suggestions on it will be necessary. I hope that this study will be helpful to guide the im- plementation of child baptism.
