드라마 <미스터 션샤인>의 애국서사 분석과 역사콘텐츠의 명과 암

국문 초록

TV 드라마는 국민국가의 이념적 정당성을 전파하는 국사의 패러다임을 정당화하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 이 글은 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 드라마 <미스터 션샤인>의 서사구조에 대한 분석을 시도했다. 서사구조는 초중반부(1~17회)와 후반부(18~24회)의 구성이 달랐다. 초중반부는 민족과 계급 그리고 근대가 얽혀있는 양상을 역동적으로 그려내고 있다. 드라마 주인공들의 계급적 위치에서 나오는 대립 지점이 다양한 대사들을 통해서 구현되는 것에서 그 양상을 읽어낼 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 서사구조는 후반부로 진입하면서 애국과 민족의 경로로 단일화된다. 각 캐릭터가 가지고 있던 역동성이 단일한 맥락으로 귀속되어버렸던 것이다. 한편, 역사드라마를 표방한 만큼 역사적 고증에 관한 부분도 언급했다. 예컨대 식민지기의 역사상을 개항 이후 근대사 서술에 대입한 점, 의병의 모습을 많이 왜곡한 점은 한계로 볼 수 있다. 또한 기존의 드라마와 마찬가지로 극의 후반부를 전형적인 애국서사로 귀결시킨 점은 아쉬운 마음이 드는 것이 사실이다. 그럼에도 기존의 역사드라마와는 다른 가능성을 많이 보여주었다는 점은 주목할 필요가 있다. 왕궁 중심의 무대를 뛰어넘어 참신한 캐릭터들을 발굴한 점, 기존 역사극에서 많이 다루어지지 않았던 개항 이후 근대사 특히 의병운동을 다룬 점, 멜로드라마 못지않은 톡톡 튀는 대사들로 극을 이끌어간 점 등은 사극 장르의 새로운 전환점을 만들었다고 평가할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

TV drama plays an important role in justifying the paradigm of national history propagating the ideological legitimacy of the nation state. Based on the consciousness of this problem, this article tried to analyze the narrative structure of drama Mrs. The structure of the narrative structure was different between the middle (1 ~ 17) and the later part (18 ~ 24). The early and midterm dynamically depicts the intertwined relationship between race, ethnicity, and modernity. It is possible to read the aspect from the fact that the confrontation point from the class position of drama characters is realized through various ambassadors. However, as we enter this latter stage, the narrative structure is unified by the path of patriotism and nation. The dynamics of each character have been attributed to a single context. Meanwhile, as a drama claimed to be a historical drama, the part of historical research was also mentioned. For example, things like substituting the historical image of the colonial era into the description of modern history after the opening of its port, and distorting the looks of righteous army could be the limitations. Also, unfortunately, the latter part of this drama is concluded as a typical patriotic narration just like the existing dramas. Nevertheless, it is highly necessary to pay attention to the fact that this drama has shown lots of possibilities different from the existing historical dramas. The matters like discovering fresh characters by exceeding the palace-centered stage, handling the righteous army movement in the modern history after the opening of its port that has not been much handled by the existing historical dramas, and using melodrama-like clever and charming lines could be evaluated to be creating a new turning point of historical drama genre.
