김해 장군차의 사적(史蹟)에 관한 연구

국문 초록

김해지역은 가야 허황후의 차씨 도래설을 가지고 있는 유서 깊은 곳으로 근세에 들어와서는 이 지역에서 생산되는 차가 장군차라는 브랜드로 대중들에게 널리 알려져 있다. 본 논문은 전국 인문지리지 11종과 조선후기에서 최근까지 편찬된 읍지류 8종, 그리고 조선후기 김해지역 문인들의 시문집 등의 기록들을 검토하여 김해 장군차 브랜드의 역사적 시원을 고찰한 것이다. 김해 장군차에 관한 첫 기록은 『신증동국여지승람』에 “1281년 4월 고려 충렬왕이 김해 금강사에 들렀을 때, 뜰에 있는 거대한 산다수 나무를 보고 ‘장군’이라는 이름을 내려주었다.”는 기록이다. 이후 ‘장군’의 이미지는 조선후기 시인묵객들의 시문에 언급되었고 인근 금강곡에서 자생하던 차나무에 오버랩 되어 본격적으로 알려지게 된 것이다. 이처럼 김해의 장군차 이름은 700여년이라는 역사적 흐름 가운데 브랜드 메이킹이 완성된 것이다.

영문 초록

Gimhae is historically famous for the legend that Queen Heo of Gaya brought tea seeds. In recent years, the tea produced in the Gimhae area is widely known as the Janggun Tea brand. This paper examines the historical origin of the Gimhae Janggun Tea brand by studying eleven types of nationwide early-time human geography, eight types of town chronicles, published from the second half of Joseon until recent times, and the collections of poetry and prose by Gimhae literati in the second half of Joseon. The first record of Gimhae Janggun Tea appears in the geography Sinjeung donggukyeojiseungnam: “In April 1281, when King Chungryeol of Goryeo visited Geumgangsa Temple in Gimhae, he saw a gigantic Sandasu tree in the garden, and named it Janggun (lit. general).” Afterwards, the image of Janggun was mentioned in the poetry and prose of poets and calligraphers in the second half of Joseon, and Janggun Tea overlapped with the tea tree, which was growing naturally in the nearby Geumgang Valley, making it known widely. Therefore, the Janggun Tea of Gimhae has developed its brand in the passage of some 700 years.
