대학 교양교육에서 진로교육의 방향

국문 초록

한국의 현대 사회에서 고학력 실업률이 증가하고 있는 상황을 고려할 때, 대학생을 대상으로 하는 진로교육은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문의 연구목적은 대학 진로교육 수업 과정에서 산출된 결과를 분석하여 한국 대학생 진로교육의 개선 방향을 모색하는 데 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국의 대학 진로교육이 학생 요구 반영, 저학년부터 단계적 실시, 시대와 사회가 요구하는 능력 학습 중심으로 개선되어야 한다는 입장에서 출발한다. 이를 위해 선행 연구와 국내외 능력 관련 자료를 검토하여 이론적 토대를 구축한 후에, 관련 교과목 수업에 참여한 학생들의 수업평가, 설문조사, 체크리스트 등의 자료를 분석하는 방법으로 논의하였다. 수업평가의 결과를 비교한 결과, 대학생 진로교육은 학생 요구를 반영하는 것이 효과적이라는 입장에 대한 사례를 제시할 수 있었다. 수업평가의 서술형 문화, 설문조사, 체크리스트에 대한 응답 결과를 비교하여 분석한 결과, 한국의 교육 현실을 감안할 때 대학에서도 진로교육은 저학년부터 단계적으로 실시되어야 한다는 입장에 대한 근거를 마련할 수 있었다. 설문조사와 체크리스트의 응답 결과를 토대로, 한국 대학의 진로교육에서 스킬이나 능력을 학습할 필요성과 가능성을 모색해 보았다. 한국 대학생 진로교육에서는 상담 활동이나 정보 전달과 더불어 직무 수행과 관련된 스킬이나 능력 학습을 포함하고 학습자 중심의 지속적ㆍ단계별 진로교육을 지향하는 것이 바람직하다. 따라서 대학 진로교육에서는 진로 탐색 및 설계와 더불어 사회와 직업 생활에서 요구하는 다양한 핵심역량을 개발할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 방향으로 개선해야 한다. 학과 차원에서 실천하기 어려운 점을 감안한다면, 교양교육에서 이를 체계적으로 다루는 방안을 강구해야 한다. 본 논문은 수업 사례를 통해 개선점을 모색하여 보다 나은 대학생 진로교육 프로그램 개발 및 운영에 기초 정보를 제공한 것에 의의를 둘 수 있겠다. 소수 대상의 수업 사례라는 한계를 극복하기 위해 더 많은 피험자를 대상으로 하는 경험 연구나 보다 구체적인 수업 설계에 대한 후속 연구를 통해, 진정한 의미의 수요자 중심 교육과 능력 학습 중심의 단계적이고 체계적인 대학생 진로교육에 대한 탐구가 이어지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The current article aims at analysing the process and the results from a pair of courses and providing some suggestions for improving the quality of the collegiate career education in Korea. The position of this article is that the Korean career education should address the needs of the society and students such as developing the key competences, implementing the continuos and progressive program. Through reviewing the previous researches, it primarily first identified that the higher-education institutions worldwide put the emphasis on the students’ development of skills and competences in the field of the career education. This study also analysed and compared the responses of course evaluation, survey, and checklist from the career education courses. As a result, the comparison showed that the students think the courses more effective than previous ones when the courses reflect the needs of the students in planning and implementing the next courses. Futhermore, the analysis of the responses revealed that the career education should start at freshman stage and continue to the final semester. In addition, according to the students’ opinions colleges should provide the learners with the opportunities to acquire the critical skills and competences such as thinking and communication skills, information literacy, and global sensitivity. Therefore, the Korean universities should develop career education policies which reflect the needs of the learners, offer the students continuous phased courses dealing with career education from first semester to final, and especially give the younger generation the opportunity to develop skills and competences needed for employability. In other words, the career education in the level of university should aim at learner-centered learning of key competences necessary for the job hunting beyond the career counseling and information conveying. This study can have significance in terms of an approach which evaluates the results of the case courses and presents some pedagogical suggestions. For overcoming the limit of small subjects it is recommended that further researches are conducted with the cases participating the more students than the number in this article. In that case, the Korean students can prepare for their future and work. It ist also the important role of the higher-education institutions.
