통합인문 교양교육의 스투디움과 파이데이아

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 통합인문 교양교육의 의미와 가치를 학습자의 자기주도 학습으로 정립하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 디지털 미디어를 포함한 지식정보사회가 변화시킨 삶의 환경 속 에서 오늘날 대학이 처해있는 위기들을 진단하고, 기계적인 암기교육을 중시하는 한국의 대학입 시 체계가 학습자들의 학력저하라는 형태로 대학교육에 미친 영향들을 분석하였다. 그리고 이런 대내외적인 난관 속에서 통합인문학으로서의 교양교육이 소외되어가는 인간적 가치를 회복시킬 수 있는 중요한 교육적 함의를 지니고 있음을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 본 연구는 통합인문 교양교육의 교육철학을 정립하기 위해 중세 수도사 공동체의 ‘ 책읽기’방식을 검토하면서 이에 기반 한 학생의 책임윤리로서의 스투디움과 교수자의 책임윤리로 서의 파이데이아 개념들을 도출해 보았다. 학생의 책임윤리로서의 스투디움은 공부의 즐거움을 스스로 찾아내는 것으로 자기주도학습의 핵심 역량인‘생각하는 힘’을 일깨우는 것이다. 교수자의 책임윤리로서의 파이데이아는 지식에 대한 권위를 내려놓고 수평적인 관계에서 타인과의 대화를 통해 생각을 공유하고 확장할 수 있도록 매개하는 것이다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 학생과 교수자 의 이러한 책임윤리들이 교실에서 수행되기 위해 필요한 조건들과 과제들은 어떤 것들인지 간략 하게 제시해보았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to establish the meaning and value of integrated humanities education as self - directed learning centered on learners. For that, this study is to analyze the crises of universities in the environment of life changed by the information society including digital media, and to analyse how the admission system of universities in Korea, which emphasizes mechanical memorization education, to impact on university education. Amid these internal and external difficulties, the humanities education has important educational implications that can restore human values, which are being neglected. Second, this study examined the book reading method of the medieval monk community in order to establish the education philosophy of the integrated humanities education, and found out STUDIUM as the concept of the student s responsibility ethics and PAIDEIA as the concept of educators responsibility ethics. As a student s responsibility ethics, STUDIUM is a self-directed learning of discovering pleasure in studying and reminding students of the thinking power of self-indulgence. As a educator s responsibility ethics, PAIDEIA is to releases its authority on knowledge and allows students to share and expand their ideas through dialogue with others in a horizontal relationship. Finally, this study outlines the conditions and challenges that students and educators need to perform in classrooms.
