영문 초록

Purpose- The purpose of this study was to explain factors influencing non-purposeful behavior in smartphone usage Design/methodology/approach- This study collected 155 survey data from University Students in Korea. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and the Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis were hired in order to test the 12 hypotheses. Findings- Empirical results showed that perceived enjoyment significantly has a positive, direct effect on habit and flow experience. Moreover, boredom and loneliness on the part of smartphone users positively and directly affect habit and addiction. On the other hand, flow experience does not directly affect non-purposeful usage but affects this indirectly via habit and addiction. Habit and addiction of smartphone users positively affect non-purposeful usage. These findings demonstrate the mediating role of flow experience, habit and addiction in terms of smartphone usage intentions in non-purposeful situations. This study extends to the absorption behavior of non-purposeful behavior of smartphone users by introducing a multilevel perspective in understanding why people frequently use theirsmartphones without a certain aim. Research implications or Originality- Furthermore, the results of this study contribute towards explaining aimless behavior of smartphone users and consequently may have a bearing on human productivity whether at home or at the workplace.
