국문 초록

본 연구는 신용협동조합의 조합원 및 임원에 대한 설문조사에 기초하여 신협이 당면하고 있는 문제점을 분석하고 신협이 보유하고 있는 경쟁력 요인을 도출한 후 신협의 장기발전전략을 모색하였다. 분석결과 향후 신협은 조합 규모의 대형화를 통하여 경쟁력을 확보하려고 하기 보다는 신협이 보유한 강점인 높은 접근성, 조합원간의 강력한 연대관계, 소비자 금융의 전문성 등을 경쟁력 확보의 기반으로 적극 활용할 필요가 있으며 이를 위해서는 조직규모를 적절한 범위에서 유지할 필요가 있다. 또한 조합원의 금융생활 편의를 도모하기 위하여 다양한 예금 및 적극상품의 개발, 대출 절차와 조건의 간소화 및 신속화, 펀드판매, 자산운용상담 등 보다 다양한 금융서비스를 전문적이고 저렴하게 공급할 수 있는 역량을 갖출 필요가 있다. 나아가 예금수취기관으로서 상시적으로 노출되어 있는 예금인출사태(bank run)발생을 방지하기 위하여 위험관리체계를 구축하는 것이 중요하다. 신협은 높은 접근성을 경쟁력 제고의 핵심적 요인으로 부각시킬 필요가 있으며, 접근성은 공간적 접근성뿐만 아니라 시간적 접근성 및 정서적 접근성까지 포함하는 개념으로 해석할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This paper provides long-run development strategies for the credit unions by identifying and analyzing problems and shortcomings as well as factors of competitiveness based on the survey results of members, managers, and executives of the credit unions. The results of the study suggest that the credit unions should not emphasize in increasing their size of scale but should continue to maintain their competitiveness by keeping the optimal size of their scale with high accessibility, strong solidarity or bonds among the members and their speciality in consumer credit market. Furthermore the credit unions need to strengthen their high accessibility to promote their competitiveness in the market not only in locational aspect but also in both temporal and emotional accessibilities. The credit unions should concentrate on providing convenience for the members in financial services with new and variety of financial products at low cost and rapid process for loan services. It is also very important for the credit unions to build and operate strong risk management system against possible bank run.
