진화하는 콤플렉스티(Complexity) 또는 복잡성(複雜性) 개념

국문 초록

본 논문에서는 콤플렉스티 개념과 연관이 있는 연구에 대한 영어권과 라틴계 전통을 통합하는 연구들을 검토함으로써, 복잡성이라는 용어를 좀 더 미묘하게 사용하기를 제안한다. 이렇게 할 때 우리는 복잡성을 특정된 또는 한정된 것들로 표현하려는 개념의 단순화를 피할 수 있게 될 것이다. 우선‘ 콤플렉스티’의 어원을 검토함으로써, 이 개념을 통해 영미권에서 형성된 세 세대에 걸친 이론의 연대기적인 성격, 그리고 인식적이고 사회문화적인 근원을 논의할 것이다. 인식론적인 관점에서는‘ 콤플렉스(Complex)’에 대한 경쟁적인 해석들을 조명하고, 사회문화적인 관점에서는 모호하기 때문에 콤플렉스티가 자유롭지만 낯설기까지 하다는 것을 살펴볼 것이다. 이러한 모호성으로부터 복잡성의 개념을 비판적으로 검토할 때, 콤플렉스티는 복잡성으로 온전하게 번역될 수 없음을 지적할 것이다. 오히려 콤플렉스티와 복잡성은 고정된 개념이 아니기 때문에, 그 자체로 재귀적인 되먹임이며 스스로 운동하고 있음을 주장함으로써 진화하는 개념으로 받아들여야 함을 제안하고자 한다. 따라서 복잡성에 기초한 교육과 연구에 관심이 있는 사람들은 수업을 진행하거나 과제를 수행할 때, 복잡성에 대한 적대감을 배움의 한 과정으로 삼아야 할 것이며, 나아가 그들 자신이 이러한 복잡성 개념의 진화에 동참하고 있음을 알아야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In this paper, investigating on the study which integrates the both American and Latin traditions about the concept of complexity, we would suggest the more delicate using of the term Bokjabsung. With this consideration, we could avoiding the simplicity of this concept when expressing the specific and limited things. It further explores the etymology of complexity and offers a chronological presentation of three generations of theories that have shaped its uses, and then epistemic and socio-cultural roots of these theories are also introduced. we address, from an epistemological point of view, that this reflection sheds light on the competing interpretations underlying the definition of what is considered as complex, and from an socio-cultural point of view, that the ambiguity gives us the feeling of free but that of unfamiliar. When we examine critically the concept of Bokjabsung with this ambiguity, we could indicate that the term complexity could not translate to the term Bokjabsung entirely. On the contrary, no more static for the concept of complexity and Bokjabsung, we should accept as the evolving things that these are recurrently feed-back and floting by itself. Therefore, when the men who have interested in the education and research based on the term Bokjabsung are teaching and researching, they should adopt the rejection of the term Bokjabsung as one process of the learning, furthermore they should notice that they are participating these evoluving concepts of Bokjabsung by themselves.
