공중화장실 범죄예방을 위한 건축계획요소 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 공중화장실에서의 범죄예방을 위한 건축계획요소를 도출하고, 서울시 근린공원 화장실에 대한 실태조사와 설문조사를 실시하여 현 공중화장실의 계획 및 운영 실태를 조사하고 각 계획요소에 대한 중요도와 만족도를 분석하였다. 실태조사 결과, 현재 공중화장실의 범죄예방 건축계획요소는 CCTV와 비상 벨 설치에 치중되어 있었고 외부환경이 내부환경보다 범죄에 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 설문조사 결과, 이용자들은 화장실 외부환경의 구성요소 중에는 주변조명과 CCTV를 이용한 기계적 감시를 중요하게 생각하고 있었으며 세부항목에 대해서는 범죄자의 침입경로 상에 조명을 설치하고 CCTV 안내판을 설치하는 것을 중요하게 생각하고 있었다. 그리고 화장실 내부 환경의 구성요소 중에는 출입구와 칸막이의 디자인, 비상벨 설치 등을 이용하여 범죄자들의 접근을 통 제하는 것을 중요하게 생각하고 있었으며 세부항목에 대해서는 남녀화장실 출입구 분리, 몰카 위험요소 제거, 모든 부스에 비상벨 설치 등을 중요하게 생각하는 것으로 분석되었다. 다음으로 환경의 질에 대한 만족도와 공중화장실에서의 안전감을 비교분석한 결과, 환경의 질적인 측면에 대한 만족도가 높을수록, 범죄에 대한 전반적인 불안감은 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to deduce the architectural design elements for crime prevention in public toilets, investigate the public toilets in neighborhood parks and analyze the relative importance of each design element and users’ satisfaction for them. For this purpose, thirty-one design elements were derived from the results of analysis of foreign and domestic CPTED guidelines and they were categorized into nine groups according to their function and purpose. And toilets on six neighborhood parks in Seoul were selected for field survey. As results of field survey, the crime prevention design of the public toilet was mainly focused on installing security equipment such as CCTV and emergency bell. And the external environment of the toilets revealed more vulnerable to crime than the internal space of the toilet. As a result of the questionnaire survey, among the design elements of the external space of the toilets, the elements concerning the mechanical surveillance using security lighting and CCTV were more important than others. Among the design elements of internal space of toilet, the elements for controlling criminals’ access, e.g. separation of the entrance for each sex, reinforcement of the partition of each stall, and installation of emergency bell were more important than others. In addition, although the level of safety that users evaluated is lower than the level of users’ satisfaction for the overall environmental quality of toilet, the higher the level of satisfaction for the environment quality is, the higher the level of safety becomes.
