형용사 파생 접미사의 심리적 실재성

국문 초록

한국어 복합형용사에서 추출 가능한 접미사의 심리적 실재성에 대한 본고의 검정 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 형용사 파생 접미사 가운데 “-궂다, -나다, -쩍다, -되다, -롭다 1 , -롭다 2 , -스럽다, -음직스럽다, -다랗다, -답다 1 , -답다 2 , -맞다, -하다”는 대응 파생 형용사와 다르지 않은 심리적 실재성을 가지고, “-음직 하다”와 “-지다”는 대응 파생 형용사와 동일한 심리적 실재성을 가진다고 볼 수 없다. 둘째, 연구 대상 가운데 “꽃답다, 신사답다, 살지다, 방정맞다, 다정하다”는 동일한 유형에 속하는 파생형용사와 동일한 심리적 실재성을 가진다고 할 수 없다. 이러한 검정 결과에서 추출할 수 있는 형태론적 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본고의 검정 결과는 어휘부의 자기조직화라는 개념에 입각한 형태론 연구의 이론적 전제를 강하게 뒷받침한다. 형용사 파생접미사 가운데 ‘-음직스럽다’와 ‘-지다’만 이론적 전제에 반하는 검정 결과를 보였는데, ‘-음직스럽다’는 ‘-음직하다’ 계열의 복합어 와 맺는 어휘적 연관성 및 대체 조어과정에 근거한 어휘부 내적 위상 제고를 통해서, ‘-지다’의 경우는 대응 복합어가 지닌 의고체적 속성과 해당 복합어들에 대한 피험자들의 낮은 친숙도로 인해 어휘부의 자기조직화가 저해된 결과로 설명될 수 있기 때문이다. 둘째, “신사답다, 다정하다”가 어휘부에 독자적 표상을 가지지 않는 다는 검정 결과는 ‘-답다’와 ‘-하다’가 가진 통사 단위로서의 위상으로 인해 ‘신사답다’와 ‘다정하다’를 어휘부에 저장할 필요성이 없어진 결과로 설명하였으며, “꽃답다, 살지다, 방정맞다”에 대한 검정 결과는 해당 복합어에 대한 피험자들의 낮은 어휘적 친숙도 때문에 발생한 것으로 설명할 수 있음을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The results of this thesis on the psychological reality of extractable suffixes in Korean compound adjectives can be summarized as follows. First, among adjective-derived suffixes: -gut a, -nada, -jjeokt a, -deoda, -ropt a1, -ropt a2, -seureopt a, -eumjiksreupt a, -daratha, -dapt a1, -dapt a2, -matt a, -hada have a psychological reality that is no different from the corresponding derivative adjectives, and -eumjikseureopta and -jida” are not considered to have the same psychological realities as the corresponding derivative adjectives. Second, among the derivative adjectives to be studied, k ott apt a, shinsadapt a, saljida, bangjeungmatt a, dajeonhada cannot be said to have the same psychological reality as the derivative adjectives belonging to the same type. The morphological implications from these verification results are as follows. First, the test results strongly support the theoretical premise of morphological research based on the concept of the self-organization of mental lexicon. Among the adjective-deriving suffixes, only -eumjikseureopta and -jida” showed a test result against the theory as a whole. The case of -eumjikseureopta was explained through the lexical association of the -eumjikhada family and the raising of the internal position in the lexico based on the alternative word formation. The case of -jida” can be explained by the fact that the self-organization of the lexicon is hampered by the old-fashioned nature of the corresponding compound word and the subject s low familiarity with them. Secondly, the result of the test that shinsadapt a, dajeonhada do not have an independent representation in the lexicon is because of its status as a syntactic unit of -dapt a and -hada . The results of the test for k ott apt a, saljida, bangjeungmatt a can be explained by the low lexical familiarity of subjects with those compound words.
