Based on the programmatic approach to myth in the diachronic perspective, this paper formulates a hypothesis that the archetypal imagery of water, formed in connection with Turkish Turks’ ancient faith, has affected the entire life of Turkish Turks including literature, art and culture and, thus, manifests itself in various ways, and then confirms the hypothesis by trying to disprove it. By doing so, it examines the archetypal imagery of water in Turkic culture through its myths, and investigates how the imagery has been utilized and transformed in Turkish culture as well.
