국내 체류 외국인의 주거입지 선택요인 분석에 관한 연구: 서울시를 중심으로

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 외국인 밀집지역의 주거선택 요인들 중에서 어떤 요인들이 외국인 주거 입지선택에 주된 영향을 미치고 있는지, 국적별로 외국인들의 주거지 선택에 미치는 요인들의 영향력에 차이가 있는지를 분석하고 정책적 함의를 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 서울시 행정동 단위의 데이터를 구축하여 이용하였고 분석방법으로는 GIS와 공간계량모형을 사용하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 다양한 주거환경 요인-외국인지원시설, 제조업종사자수, 아파트평균가격 등-이 외국인 주거지선택에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 주거지 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인들은 국적별로 다른 것으로 분석되었다. 외국인 지원센터는 중국인에게는 양의 영향을, 일본인에게는 음의 영향을 주는 것으로 분석되었고, 제조업 종사자의 수는 중국인, 동남 아시아인과는 양의 상관관계가, 북미유럽인과는 부의 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 아파트 평균 매매가격의 경우 유럽인은 양의 영향, 중국인 일본인 동남아인 모두 부의 영향을 받는 것으로 조사되었다. 연구결과의 정책적 함의로 주거환경 개선, 외국인 밀집지역 선정에 대한 세밀한 연구의 필요성, 문화적 다양성의 조성, 외국인 들에 대한 포용적 관점의 필요성 등을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze impacts of residential environment on foreign immigrant’s residential location choice and to see if impacts are varied by immigrant’s nationality. For this purpose, factors influencing residential location choice were selected based on extensive literature review and the spatial econometrics model was used for analysis. Spatial scope of the study was set to Seoul and data were collected at the ‘Dong’ level, the smallest administrative unit in Seoul. Findings of the study are as follows. First, various factors of residential environment such as foreign aid related facilities, number of manufacturing workers, average apartment price were analyzed as influential factors affecting immigrants’ residential location choice. Second, when classified by nationality, impact of residential environment was different by their origin. Foreign aid center affects most positively Chinese immigrants while negatively affects Japanese immigrants. Number of manufacturing workers are positively related to Chinese and South-eastern immigrants and negatively affect American and European immigrants. Average price of apartment positively affect European immigrants while negatively influence immigrants from Japan, China, and South-eastern countries. Based on these findings, several policy implications and suggestions were made with regard to improvement of residential environments, necessity of further research on this issue, and changes in perception and attitude towards foreign immigrants.
