생명에 관한 몇 가지 생각 - 생명 신학을 위하여

국문 초록

  생명이란 말은 오늘날 자연과의 관계 회복을 지향하고 서구의 근대적 사고방식을 지양하면서 급격히 중요한 화두로 떠올랐다. 그동안 신학이나 철학은 의미 있는 삶을 지향하는 데 초점이 맞추어져 있었다. 인문주의자들은 도덕을 통해, 살고자 하는 본능을 극복하고, 의를 위해서는 죽을 수도 있는 것을 강조했다. 그러나 우리는 목숨의 인문학적 의미를 탐구하고자 한다. 산 사람은 살아야 한다는 당위는 선험적인 도덕 명령보다 더 우선한다. 그것은 우리가 무의식적으로 복종하는 것이므로 인문주의자들이 말하는 주체적 자유와도 다르다. 그 점에서, 주체를 세우기 위해 의지를 강조한 서구 철학의 전통보다는 같은 인문주의라도 의지 이전의 정을 더 강조한 한국 철학의 전통이 생명 문제에 더 가깝게 접근할 길을 열어 놓는다. 한편 생명으로 내려가는 것은, 그냥 있음의 차원으로 가는 것인데, 하이데거의 존재(있음)와도 달리 그것은 의미가 있던 없던 담담하게 살아 있는 것이다. 무엇을 이룩하지 않아도 소유의 세계에서 존재로 내려가 몸에 충실한 것이다. 그것은 고도의 정신세계를 추구하는 것이 아니라, 몸이 맘을 붙들어 두고 몸의 소리에 충실함으로써 자연과 도 연결된다. 대개 서양은 주체를 강조하므로 그냥 있음을 두려워한다. 한편, 이 땅에서 산다는 것은 업신여김을 극복하는 것인데, 그 점에서는 서양의 과학적 사고방식이 기여했다.

영문 초록

  The word "Life" has been taken as the core subject recently associated with overcoming the westernized modern view of the world and getting into the reconciliation with the nature. In the past both the theology and the philosophy were focused on the meaningful life. The humanists, teachers of human being, have taught the ways to win over the natural instinct of will to live and the voluntary death to accomplish the just. What we try to show here is the meaning of instinctive will to live, the meaning of the so called meaningless life. There is the duty of life. The living man or woman has to live. This mandate precedes the moral imperatives. Human beings obey that mandate unconsciously, doing it without any intentional will to live. Compared to the western tradition mainly based on the intentional will in oder to make human being the host of his life, Korean philosophical tradition concerned about the sense or emotion prior to will opens the way to approach the life theology. In the other hand, going down to life is to get to the level of "being for nothing." This being is different from that(Sein) of Heidegger to the extent that it is being for nothing whether it is meaningful or not. Without any accomplishment, being for nothing is to go down to "be" from "have" and to being faithful to the body. It is not to search for the highly mental world but to follow the asking of body and being in intimacy with the nature. There is another dimension for us to take into consideration to build the theology of life. It is that to live in this world is to fight against the ignorance which can be interpreted as taking a being as non-being. In that point, we have to recognize the contribution of the western scientific method.
