국문 초록

이 논문은 에크하르트와 이슬람 수피 루미의 신비주의 연구를 통해 기독교와 이슬람 수피즘의 종교적 대화를 모색하는 글이다. 이러한 종교 간의 대화를 위해 본 논문은 신과 연애하고자 했던 열망을 담은 에크하르트와 루미의 생애 및 신비체험을 시작으로, 신을‘인간의 영혼 속에서’만나고자 했던 두 신학자의 핵심 주제들을 순차적으로 다루고자 한다. 신의 하나됨, 신과 신성, 통일성, 지성, 영지, 신적사랑, 인간의 자아의 개념이 중요 개념들이다. 또한 신비적 합일의 과정과 함께‘신을 완성’하고자 시도했던 두 사상가의‘인간’ 해석을 의인학과 우주적 인간학의 개념으로 조명해 본다. 끝으로 에크하르트와 루미의 신비주의 특징을 종교철학적 관점에서 비교 분석하도록 한다. 이러한 논의 과정에서 두 사상가가 신과 신성에 관한 인식을 달리하고 있으며 궁극적 실재(God/Real)에 관한 신학적 해석에도 차이점이 있음을 제시한다. 에크하르트가 제시한 신이 영혼 안에서 탄생한다는 인식론과 루미가 제시하는 신의 세계로 영혼이 소멸하는‘잠김’의 인식론적 차이를 구분한다. 동시에 존재를 초월하고 구별을 용해시키는 신성 안에서 인간의 생성원인을 발견하고 자 하는 철학적 신비주의와 신과‘하나됨’의 의미를 신인간의 통일성, 초존재성, 평등성에서 찾고자 하는 두 신학자의 공통된 신학적 통찰력을 조명한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper in its entirety is to examine a religio-philosophical comparison between the Christian mysticism represented by Eckhart and Sufi mysticism represented by Rumi. The dominant motive running through the entire work is the desire to open a new vista in the domain of inter-religious dialogue between the two traditions, Christianity and Islam Sufism. The comparative work of the two will be devoted to an attempt at analyzing the life with mystical experience and major theological issues including God, Godhead, divine knowledge, emptiness, universal human which underlies the main topics of both Eckhart and Rumi’s mysticism. There can be no denying that Eckhart’s metaphysics of the divine knowledge presents in its abysmal depth of thought a number of striking similarities to Rumi’s concept of gnosis. This is the more interesting because both Eckhart and Rumi represent a culmination point of a mystical theology of emptiness(fana) in presenting different approaches to the concept of the union with God/Godhead. I believe that a comparative study of this kind, if conducted carefully, will at least furnish us with a common ground upon which an interreligious dialogue may fruitfully be opened.
